Yes, asking through the door what the kid wanted, and shooting him only if he tried to force his way in would've been a more sensible approach. In that case he would've had "stand your ground" and self defense on his side and he wouldn't be facing two felony charges as is the case now.

These days, law is open to interpretation.
Honestly by the time the homeowner identifies a problem it's too late. He's not ready for an intruder, but they are definitely read for him. Everyone thinks they'd be all Rambo and react within a split second, but that's not the way it works in real life.
This situation would be better opined upon if the news media didn't have a rich history of lying and embellishing to cause hate and discontent. As it stands, this homeowner and his wife and all his family and friends might as well kill themselves right now. The media riled the mob and the mob has spoken.

Roth said she got out of her friend's car and opened the door to a car she thought was her own, but a man was in the passenger seat. She said she got out of the car and back into her friend's vehicle.
When the man approached their vehicle, Roth rolled down the window to apologize and the man started shooting, she later said.
If that is indeed what happened, this guy wasn't on his property or defending it or anything. It's not even remotely the same as the KC incident. Cops should be able to figure it out pretty quickly if the girls were shot in their own vehicle and not in his. From the headline I thought the story was going to be that he caught the girls entering his vehicle and shot them on the spot.
On another note, Monello and I spent quite a bit of time in Bastrop County and are familiar with Elgin. It's a wonder the cheerleaders didn't shoot him back.

I agree with you on how the media almost aways blows these types of situations out of proportion but when getting past all that fog and focusing on the few actual details of what happened, things like the statements made to police, it doesn’t look good for the homeowner.
It surely doesn't. But at this point the facts don't really matter. The media has already poisoned the well with photos of the kid as a cherubic band student, and the homeowner as a grimacing thug. Now, that may in fact be what they both look like (and are) but experience tells me they cherrypicked them to make an impression.
And even if it's proven in court that the kid was indeed breaking into his house, it won't matter - the homeowner will still be guilty in the public eye. Cities all over America will erupt in flames and rioting, and the man and his family will get death threats and assaults. I've seen this show, I know how it ends.

Haven't we already seen this show so many times? Last few weekends, POCs have savagely beaten total strangers in these wilding, looting sprees. News isn't interested. The Nashville shooting? The news COULDN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT - white guy shooting children ---
Until it was revealed the shooter was trans. Story - is - gone. GONE. Seriously, when we get other stories like this, coverage goes for WEEKS. And unlike other loonies whose social media and comments were made public, this one's been scrubbed.
Remember how the Pelosi attacker was presumed to be some MAGA type - and once it was certain he was some loonie, naked stoner homeless BLM supporting nutjob - story really kinda disappeared. The Orlando shooter? YES! White guy shooting gays. Ooops. MUSLIM named Omar - shooting gays. Button it up, nothing to see here.
So absolutely - it's totally logical to completely disbelieve whatever first comes out. Because we've done this dance not only so many times, but if you take the time to scour the Internet for brutal crimes with gangs and mobs and such - you WILL actually find savage, brutal crime that goes against what the mainstream media wants to advance.
Don't forget the white, hispanic guy that was part of the neighborhood watch program.

I don’t see anyone in here jumping for joy that this kid was shot and killed, what I do see is people wanting the whole story of what actually happened before stating their opinion. You I the other hand jump on the first headline you see and intellectually refuse to accept any other facts that come out about the situation.

Who's gleeful?The kid phucked up, matters not if he's colored or not. The old mans remaining days are ruined and the kid will be scarred for life.
And it should make the kid smarter. Be sure you have the right address before you trespass on someone's property.
