The Budapest Memorandum provides the pretext for US interest in what goes on in Ukraine with respect to Russian incursions. This is in response to Ukraine (and Belarus and Kazakhstan) giving up nukes. Russia was a signatory and they’ve been in violation.
This doesn’t create a legal requirement for the US (or any other signatory) to get involved, but perhaps does create a moral one, slippery as that argument may be.

Ukraine is a POS country run by corrupt thugs. It wouldn't hurt my feelings any if Putin invaded them and put their heads on a pike. It might put a crimp in Hunter Biden's wallet, and the Big Guy wouldn't get his 10%, but **** them.

Damn temporary. National Guard troops who are ill trained could be called up and used as targets for a while.
Anyone over the age of 18 and younger than 30 with an IQ over 50 will head for Canada.
The kids here today who are not already in the military are not going to fight.
