Good Laptop?

Not a fan of Gateways -- we had them at school a number of years ago & had a lot of problems with them. We've since switched to Dell -- seem more reliable. Just my opinion. Personal laptop is a Dell.

The stats look good but, like some of the others, I'm not a fan of Gateway. Haven't had one in over 10 years so I really can't tell you how their quality is now. I have both Dell and HP and am happy with both. Go check out some reviews and see what folks are saying. CNET is a good place to start...

My Acer laptop from a few years ago is still ticking just fine! Battery is original and it lasts for about 2 hours at max usage.
Ive never heard good things about Dell from people I know with them.
Fiance has a Dell E1505 and its a hunk of junk. Were on the 3rd battery, 2nd AC brick and it had nothing but issues.

Every frontline customer service person is an Indian man named Steve.
Reminds me of a customer support call I made a couple years ago that went to somewhere obviously in India. I got a similar "Steve". Had to stop and 
for a couple moments before moving on.

Price isn't everything. Best Buy had some good prices on HP laptops last week. I'm not a fan of Gateway. Also not a fan of HP service, but have had good luck over the years with desktops and laptops both.
