I have had the iPhone 4 for a couple years and love it, but I recently upgraded the software to iOS 6 and holy crap, what a mess! I guess they switched from Google maps to something crappier because that #### is a trainwreck. We just moved to Virginia Beach and I'm still trying to get my bearings. My iPhone has been indespensable, but just yesterday we were looking for a specific place. We get to the light and the map tells me I need to turn right. Dustin looks left and sure enough, it's actually supposed to be a left turn. Seriously? How do you go from Google maps to something that's not even accurate most of the time? I've been using Apple products for years and this is the first time I've been truly disappointed. :ohwell:

a little biased

I'll give them the water test, that was impressive.. BUT I would have to let the SIII dry out first before I made my final conclusions.. Still impressive that the iPhone continued to work thoughout though..

But both the impact tests the SIII failed were not the same as the impacts the iPhone took..

iPhone landed on a corner where the Galaxy landed face down on the glass, and the beer bottle landed edge down on the os SIII where it landed flat across the iPhone..

I would like to see both tests repeated on the iPhone and see how they do.. then of course compare repair (if reparable) cost to replace the screens.

Hubby already picked up his iPhone 5 and loves it! Said it is a ton faster than his 4 and a lot lighter, too.

Got mine on Friday too and LOVE it. Definitely worth the wait. Not only is it fast network downloading wise, the sound quality of the phone is fantastic.

Wow what a biased test. Of course Apple geeks believe the iPhone was handed down from God himself.

Usually the LCD screen itself never breaks, it is the digitizer the piece that collects data points above the screen to process the user inputs. Most for the Android or older iPhones can be had for about $35 on ebay. Also most of the guys at work with cracked screens still use their phones with no function issues. Not sure if Apple actually did go to their new design of incorporating the digitizer into the LCD, not cheap to replace. Something to remember when you think of an insurance claim to replace a cracked screen.

You are correct about it being biased. If I'm not mistaken both phones use Gorilla Glass. I saw a video on you tube several months ago where a guy demonstrated, using the same model phone, how the angle of impact meant everything when testing. Certain angles could withstand tremendous force while others required barely any to crack the glass.

As for the water test, I assume the battery is still not user replaceable on the iPhone. This means the case itself is a tighter seal as the intention is for you not to be able to remove the cover. Replaceable batteries means more crevices for water to penetrate as it is intended for the owner to be able to easily access the internals of the phone. So you're trading off non-replaceable battery for the ability to withstand a very minimal amount of submersion. Guarantee it wouldn't take much longer exposure before it's fried just like the other phone.

Girl dropped her iPhone in the hot tub a few months back. Worked like a charm and didn't even phase it.

Me, on the other hand -- I can get a droplet of water on my Droid Thunderbolt and it freezes up and I have to reboot. POS!
