I took it out for about 15 minutes this a.m. I'm STILL cold.

Should have worn your leathers....do I need to come over and warm you up?

We can discuss the fact that I need a deck on the back of my house(nice house warming present)

Wear you leathers and hold on....it's a little windy out there
Later in the day, early evening, the wind is supposed to die down. We'll wait and see.

I ran up to the store around 10:30, saw no bikes at all on the way up and about 3 coming home they were pulling into the PF Safeway parking lot. Usually on a Sunday morning they are everywhere.

We ran out for a bit and didn't see any. It's really not fun in the wind. At least not for me.

It was a fun ride. I felt like an Ice Cube when I got home. Wind kept thing interesting for most of the ride. Enjoyed a great late lunch at the Captain George's buffet.

I'm sooooo glad I got past the "cruiser" black leather and tried the textile stuff. It's incredibly functional, I was comfy all day. If it had rained today, all I would have needed to change was my gloves.

Till I loaned them out  Can't believe that girl came riding today with just a sweatshirt.

I think it was her first time. Not a good choice for a first ride. A little long and a little cool/windy. That black dog almost got em. I think she felt better on the back of the big tourer. Thanks for the use of your silk liners. Time I got another pair for myself. As I said had a pair I used to use for hunting. I should have brought my heavier gloves. Looks like I need to invest in a set of first gear over clothes. Better protection with the armor inserts and all. I also would have been better off using my full face yesterday. I just hadn't expected such a cool day. Lying weathermen!!!

Shop around.. Lot of choices out there for textile riding gear, and a lot of internet sites with great prices. I chose Olympia, they've been around awhile, and not cheap, but also not expensive. I've got mesh gear, both jacket and pants, armored, and comes with an insulated and waterproof liners for both tops and bottoms.

First Gear isn't a bad choice by any means, there's just a LOAD of companies out there now making good quality riding gear.

I bought my daughters vented leather Joe Rocket jacket from NewEnough.com for less than $100, and it came in with all the tags still on it.

 their stuff isn't used, it's distributor/manufacturer's close outs
Got both me and the boy new Tour Master jackets from there this spring, about $60.

I know that, I added that part because of the name of their site.. "NewEnough" sounds like a thief store for riding apparel...

BS Gal, congo rats on the sale of the little girl bike. Sorry for stealing your thread! :flowers: :huggy:

Bob, APS, thanks for the advice, I'll check around in hopes of finding a few good deals. I like my leather as I said but it has it's limits. I'm not real keen on buying clothes on the internet, never sure of the fit or cut. Even if it is the correct size the cut may not be good for my "physique" or lack thereof. :lmao:

NewEnough just added a bargain basement section

Try on somebody else's jacket. That's how I knew to order a larger size on my First Gear Kilimanjaro. Even if you wind up exchanging it foe a larger/smaller size or different model, you'll still come out ahead on the cost.
That's one of the great thing about men's clothes, sizes are base on actual measurements instead of some "feel good" number the ladies have
