I have a windshield, but have been hit with bugs in the face. I also own a full face helmet, but seldom wear it because I can't stand the feeling of being closed in. I'm getting used to it bit by bit and will probably wear it full time this season. I caught a bug in the eye last year and that really hurt. It was a gnat or something small, but blurred my vision and really bothered me.

How many walls have you bumped into. :lmao:

during the summer I seldom wear leathers. Its all a matter of personal choice and has a lot to do with the way you ride.
Get a mesh jacket, It's like wearing shade on a hot day.

Yes' it's a matter of choice, but it's also about how every other goober drives. No matter how careful I am, all it takes is somebody else to screw things up. Sliding down the road in a T-shirt isn't fun

Personally ,if I had to wear a full face helmet, I would just as soon ride in a car. too closed in for me,

I'm a little surprised to hear people say that. I haven't ridden a motorcycle yet, but I've spent a little time on a snowmobile. When I first put the full-face helmet on, I didn't know how I was going to ride. It felt like my head was in a bucket. But within a few minutes of hitting the throttle, I never noticed the helmet anymore. Like I didn't even have one - I was concentrating so hard on riding, the helmet just dissappeared from my mind.

But I imagine it might get hot in the summer. I didn't have that problem in December in Iowa.

As long as you are moving. The modern full faces and flip ups are well vented.. Not too bad.. Winter time they seal up real well to, so their is very little cold air getting inside. The neck roll, and the 'seal' under the chin keeps all the cold air out where it should be..

The benefit to the flip up front, when sitting at a light in 100 degree heat you can flip up the entire front of the helmet, get aired out.. but still have the protection of a full face when toolin down the road.

I have a flip-up, and ride with it flipped-up almost all year. I have that large windscreen for most of my face protection. Only when it gets bitter cold do I put the face shield back on and close the lid.

:yeahthat: I usually keep the chin bar down and the face shield open unless it's COLD.

I do catch myself doing that a lot.. then I remind myself why i bought the helmet and put the chin down.. Really nice days it's hard to remember to put the front down.

Do you get alot of wind buffeting with that helmet flipped up?
My Caberg came with warnings NOT to ride with the chin bar up because it's a big air scoop on the top of your head. It's fairly easy to remove if you want to use it as an open face.

that and if you do crash, the chin bar sittin on top of the helmet could act like a fulcrum delivering force to your neck..

You won't get an argument from me there.
