Got a Speeding ticket...

Got a ticket yesterday morning on my bike. 64 in a 55 what a bitttch. $80.
Female sherriff cut no breaks. Tried to keep it around 60 but i guess i caught a gust of wind. It was kinda cold a somewhat windy.
Anyway does anyone know the procedure for maybe getting the points dropped ? I will reluctantly pay the fine.
On the citation it has three options:
1. pay the fine.
2. request waifer hearing.
3.request trial date.
I'm guessing #2.
Does Calvert offer Community service in lieu of points and maybe fine?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh please. Suck it up, accept that you screwed up, stop trying to pass blame and make it someone elses' issue, and pay your fine.

JMHO but If i were you i would request a trial date, there is always the slightest chance the officer might not appear, if the officer does not appear the charges are dismissed. Also if you have a clean drivers record there is a chance the judge may levy the fine and drop the points. I do believe Calvert does offer community service in lieu of points but that would depend on your previous driving record and is up to the judge.

Clean record for 25yrs. CDL class B w/hazmat. Travelling I am 95 sure between 60-65 as I always do, so technically speeding, this is why I will pay the fine, But the points hurt my CDL and chances of employment. And also since I am trying to pass it on someone else, does everyone drive 55?

Route 4 is known as the local raceway. Cops know it. Therefore, they monitor it carefully. Judges know the reputation of the area too. Therefore, they have cut hardly any breaks. With that said, good luck.

They are clamping down all over Calvert, a lady i work with just got a ticket for 42 in a 35 by a Md. State Trooper. She said she had not gotten a ticket in the last 20 years.

This is a good thing... hardly a day goes by that the local news doesn't contain at least one, but more often many headlines of collisions along route 4.

As they should, All over the state. Too many people think they can "travel the speed I deem safe" with no regard to the laws and then ##### and complain about the ones who do obey.

In My Opinion
They should be giving tickets to the people going the speed limit.
Those people hold up traffic and cause people to be late, if you normally drive 5 over and get behind some ass doing exactly the posted limit, you then have to take a risk by passing them when you can, then you have to go at least 10 over for a certain distance to make up the time lost.
The other problem I see is with the police sitting on the shoulder, this could cause a serious accident too, the shoulder was not designed for parking on, it was designed as an IOV lane (Important Occupancy Vehicle) to use as a travel lane when the other lanes are backed up. Somebody more important than the rest of us could come flying up and have to either hit the person waiting in the line of traffic, rear end the officers or ditch their car to avoid the two.

its not the speed that causes the accidents, its the differential of speed. It would be much safer for everyone to drive 100mph in the 55mph zone than for some to drive 55 while others drive 65.
