Graves Disturbed at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery

Nice find :yay:

But you watch, instead of pulling an Emily Litella ("...oh...nevermind...") they'll ratchet up to justify their indignation and outrage. "Well STILL! They shouldn't have let the ground sink in! How could they let it rain so much? I don't believe them! All backhoe operators are grave-robbing ghouls! And the VA are liars! Yar! Yar!!!"

We are an angry people and any excuse for a freak-out will do.

I still think they were wrong. They should have had living people lay themselves down so the backhoe could drive over them and protect the ground or even better they could use the corpses of the recently deceased. :cds:

I worked for a cemetery as a kid cutting grass around the stones and when I got stuck or sunk into the ground of a fairly fresh grave and had to be pulled out I never once got a complaint from anyone residing in that cemetery.

my ex wife is sitting on the shelf at my sons place :shocking:

bwa ha ha ha.. I have a small clay urn on the bookshelf in my office that has "ashes of ex wife" cast in to the surface of it.

Get some of the strangest reactions from people when they spot it; it's a hoot to see them try to pretend they never saw it in the first place.:killingme

Just like that old saying....

"I have missed my ex-wife....................with every bullet so far." :coffee:

I visited Cheltenham on Saturday to say hello to my grandpa and a friend. It was clean, well taken care of, and all the head stones that I saw were cleared of grass/weeds. The lawn was trimmed nicely. Kudos for the great job they do!

The posting was mixed in with others insisting that Section 60 deserved special treatment. “The saddest acre in America” is what Elizabeth Belle calls it.

Me me me me me ME!!! It's all about ME!!

Because nobody else has loved ones who died but ME! That's why MY loved one's death is the SADDEST OF ALL! To hell with you and yours because you are not ME!

I want to punch this woman.

A green alternative

Here's another option. No need for a fancy casket of metal or wood. Don't have to generate heat for a cremation. I'm sure the crabs and lobster appreciate the gesture.

Burial At Sea

The tradition of burial at sea is an ancient one. As far as anyone knows this has been a practice as long as people have gone to sea. In earlier times, the body was sewn into a weighted shroud, usually sailcloth. The body was then sent over the side, usually with an appropriate religious ceremony. Many burials at sea took place as recently as World War II when naval forces operated at sea for weeks, and months at a time. Since World War II many service members, veterans, and family members have chosen to be buried at sea.

The backhoe is too dayum big for the job and shouldn't have been used to begin with. There are smaller versions that would fit into the cemetary without disturbing the graves and still get the job done. Used to work in a cemetary when I was a kid.

I want to be cremated, my urn on a shelf or mantle in the house, with some annoying statement on the placard.
