great mills pool?

I've been there the past few times I've been up to Southern Maryland. My dad's a big swimmer, so he goes often.

It's okay. If you are strictly for lap swimming, it's perfect. If you are more for just splashing around, maybe a little less so. There is a shallow end for the kids. However, no diving area or hot tub.

The roof over the pool is rather unique--it looks to be the same material that covers the Metrodome in Minnesota. All air pressurized; you have to go through an airlocked revolving doors to get in. (I've never been there in the summer, but I'm guessing they take the roof down then) They've got mens and women's locker rooms with ample locker and shower space.

Honestly, it's not nearly as nice as the pool up in Annapolis. That one has diving areas and a hot tub, and it has a little bit of a more permanent feel to it in terms of the facilities. But if all you want is a place to do laps, the Great Mills pool is fine.

I'm wondering about when they are going to get around to putting an indoor pool in Calvert. Last I heard, they were going to put it at the community college.

I've used GM pool a bit and havent had too many problems. It's $5 a day for adults and $4.00 for 17 & under. There's only 4 tables with umbrellas and the last time we visited there they made everyone get out about an hour after opening because they "forgot" to put chlorine in before opening. After they finally put it in...everyone left within an hour because there was wayyyy too much chlorine and all the kids looked like they were bleeding from the eyes. LOL Lap swimming is now limited in the afternoon/evenings and they only have 2 lanes open.

We were there for a party and on the way home the kids said they saw "poop" floating near the bottom of the pool. :dead:

If it was near the bottom can it really be said to be floating?

Seriously I didn't think anyone would notice it when I did it.

My son went with the middle school to the GM pool, and came home with cuts all over the bottom of his feet, from the bottom of the pool :(

What does anyone else know about this?
