What are some of the greatest threads in the history of the forum?

It got outrageous traffic.

It exposed the DU to the light of day.

It was funny as hell.

It was TRUE.

And it was a transitional thread from the old forum to the new.

Plus, it stands as a great example of something being blown WAY out of proportion in terms of being misunderstood, intentional or not, and being manipulated to make other points.

Classic study in human nature.

I Googled the phone numbers and sure enough, the first and last belong to the National Enquirer. Mike Walker from the Enquirer is on Stern every Friday. So either it was him, or a pretty good prank for 2001.
