Ground bees

Call me a tree hugger if you must, but I was trying to limit the number of chemicals I pour into the soil.

Then again, I'm no chemist and maybe the gas is less harmful than the pesticide I used. The water was worth a shot, didn't cost me anything. Already paid the METCOM bill.

actually two cups of gasoline will evaporate in a matter of a few hours the fumes is what kills the bees. Rubbing alchol would probally be equally effective but I was taught to use GASOLINE and that always works.

You're mostly right. It will leave some residue, though, and the next rain will take that into the soil. But two cups is hardly an Exxon Valdez disaster, and I will agree with you that the next time I encounter these bees in my yard there will be plenty of chemicals headed their way. Nasty little bastards.

My doctor reffered to the ground bees as burrowing bees and yes they do hurt like he!! the be some how got up my jeans and stung me near my knee I ended up with a half swollen red and hot to the touch knee and went to the doctors 2 days later it was infected don't ask me how it got that way. I found out that I am allergic so now everytime I see a bee come near me I freak out and try to walk away from them.

I had ground bees at my old house. Took the running push mower over the top of the nest and left it running for an hour. Bee parts EVERYWHERE! Then poured gasoline (or kerosene - I can't remember which) down the hole to kill the remaining ones. :yay:

That makes me wish I had a bees nest in the ground.

Well, this thread jinxed us. Found another nest in the yard yesterday. Had just set up our little girl's swimming pool right next to it, thank god my wife noticed before anybody got stung.

Went directly for the wasp & hornet killer this time. yeah, yeah, I know: TWO CUPS OF GASOLINE. But it was right next to the house, and I didn't feel like looking at a patch of dead grass there for the rest of the summer. The first blast killed most of them, and the ones that returned later found a rock blocking the entrance.

Interesting, the wasp and flying insect killer I tried just made them mad, even though it claims "kills instantly". They didn't come back to the nest though after I saturated the ground with it, well they came back, buzzed around and left for sweeter smelling pastures.

That was basically what happened. The ones that I hit with a direct stream died, but the rest would come slowly back, smell the chemical and fly away. Eventually it looked like they resumed using the nest as usual. That's when I jammed a rock into it, which encouraged the remainder to look for a new home.

At least that's what I hope; I'll be checking again this afternoon. :fingerscrossed:

None that I hit died. 0 dead wasps on the ground. Some wet ones, but they shook off and flew away. I should have let the little buggers sting the crap out of me and sued the spray manufacturer. :lmao:

They'll just dig a new enterance. They live underground, what makes you think that they can't/won't dig?

Gasoline for the kill, followed by a match for sadistic pleasure. :yay:

Ground bees are awesome aren't they? They're the only bee that you can get to sit still in their own "fire-proof" container.

You little b******s sting me, I light you, your momma, your kiddies and your home on fire! End discussion.
