I'd also like to add that over the last week or 10 days that McKays has been rather disappointing as well.
Which McKays? What has been disappointing?

Ive checked out the new one in Hollywood but havent had a chance to try any of the new foods they have there. The chinese food area looked quite delicious.
Same thing happened to me at Tequilla Grill last Saturday.

4:31pm (got time from cell), ordered the Crab Conzuela for pick up. he said my order # was 100 and it'd be ready in 10 minutes. Well I'm about 12-15 minutes away so I hop in the car and head over.

Walk in, give my name & order # and he says it'll be right out. I pay and get receipt. Time on receipt is 4:41 (made good time).

I sit.

And I sit.

Cricket is there, sees me and comes over to say hi. We chat and she asks if I'd like to join her & her friend. I decline saying my order should be up any second.

I sit.

Time is now 4:51pm. I ask him to check on the order and he assures me it is coming right out.

I sit.

And sit.

Guy is gone and girl is there. It is 5:05. I ask her to please credit my card as it has now been over 30 minutes for a 10 minute appetizer. Well low and behold as she is about to ring it up, here comes my order. My soda had been sitting there for 30 minutes melting.

I will go back because I know this is the exception not the norm for TG. And that chit was good!

Agree that is a great appetizer!

The one in Hollywood. They took a dive, seemingly, over night.

Bummer! I noticed most of the employees there were really young, wonder if that has anythign to do w/ it.

Id suggest they transfer some of the veterans from the Leonardtown store but I dont want to lose them  They have a lot of really helpful employees there!

You're right. It does seem that most of the employees at the old/new store are younger. They have all been very friendly and professional, though. I agree about not moving the employees from the other store but it's because in my mind, that's where they're supposed to be.

Is it more so the quality of the food/products that have taken a dive then?

The stuff on the lunch buffet. The salad bar is kinda' sad, the soup is way overheated, and the hot bar is sparse, and what's there looks dried up.

I can see with some confidence that their tiramisu is still good, though.

Gotcha! Well hopefully they get things back on track!

Speaking of how did your tiramisu turn out?

Really, I was in there on Sunday to get some wine and the hot food bar was packed and everything looked fresh. I guess it depends on who's managing at the time, also, I have to say, the young people are very nice and the guys behind the butcher counter are really pleasant and very helpful. It's too expensive to buy from on a regular basis but if you want something special or a great piece of meat or fish from the butcher shop, its fantastic.

The Hollywood Mckays has become hit or miss. Sometimes I go in there, and the prepped foods look good, and ready to eat. Other times it is broken down, or the food looks ready for the dumpster. While I get that the store is new, and they are learning as they go...they have to also understand that consistancy is what keeps customers. If I go in there at 7PM to get dinner on the way home from work...and everything looks like ass...I am eventually gonna stop looking.

They had a breakfast bar for instance. However it was $7 a pound...and they take it away because no one uses it. Geez...I wonder. To run a premium store like this, they have to have high standards consistantly...and more and more I see standard McKays corner cutting slip through.

The other thing that is kind of strange is they have been adding all the hot food stuff that makes the Hollywood store unique is also starting to the big Leonardtown Mckays. This is pretty dangerous as I am sure the L-town Mckays is cheaper, and has a lot more selection. Most people will drive a few minutes out their way for the same thing cheaper.
