Guess what turns you gay

Agree? That they are, or could be? Again, why not? Show science that proves otherwise.

Show science that declares homosexuals are such by birth, then there is no reason why homosexuals cannot be such by their own accord, based on the same science as this "instructor".

Such a joke. And all on society.:lmao:

I don't need science, I only need common sense. There are homosexual men who have had strong father figures throughout their entire childhood, and heterosexual men who masturbate. The fact that they exist pretty much renders the presenter's statements as untrue. But hey, if you want to believe such a thing, well, then perhaps you're a joke on society.

Wait a minute Z and onel. This isn't about acceptance of homosexuality blah blah blah, this is about the false information that the presenter was subsequently spreading. Do YOU seriously think some men are gay for the reasons stated? :eyebrow:
Sounds like she was using dated info, but regardless, do you really think that the folks were outraged by dated information, or the fact that such dated information seemed insensitive to homosexuals in a culture that is literally forcing acceptance of said sinfulness?

How can you preach against the 'sinfulness' of homosexuality and not have a word to say about pedophile priests or pastors? If there is a hell, a special place there is reserved for these disgusting homosexual pedophile 'Men of God'.

So if a person declares that homosexuality is a sin, they must also include every other act that is sinful as well? No discussing one thing at a time, all or nothing?

Are you trying to say that we should limit comment to ONLY the narrowly focused topic of whether homosexuality is sinful or not? Is so, I am fine with that. In fact, I prefer more focused debates like this, but that is not the way these forums normally go. I would say that pointing out that homosexuality in the priesthood is a huge issue is appropriate in this forum. Do you disagree?

The topic was that masturbation turns you gay, and the speaker believes homosexuality is a sin. We were not discussing pedophilia, or adultery, or not honoring your father and mother, or idolatry, or any other sin.

So on the topic as you described it, you really think it is 'out of bounds' to comment on the general topic of homosexuality in the priesthood? After all this is a religious forum, is it not?

Fine I'll play along...so do you think that masturbation turns priests gay after they enter the priesthood? Or do you think they were gay when they entered?

Pedophilia and homosexuality are two different things and it annoys me when someone equates the two or thinks if you are one you must also be the other.

Strange that you would state one way is your preference yet you are the one going the other direction. Makes it hard to take you seriously.

Now look who at is not responding in kind to my question which is in keeping with the topic.

Do not make the assumption here that I am inferring all homosexuals are pedophiles. But understand that they are not mutually exclusive either. "Does masturbation make you gay" is a spectacularly stupid question to ponder in the first place....but getting back to that topic, I would obviously say that priests are not changed to gay through the act of masturbation and would argue that many enter the priesthood knowing they are simply gay, and/or gay with pedophilia tendencies, or simply just pedophiles.

Agreed. I was trying to invoke response but using tactics I would rather avoid. If I can get you, or any other Christian, to engage in a civil and intellectual debate without resorting to these tactics, that is much preferred.

If it were me, I'd be outraged at the sheer stupidity of what she was saying and would have walked out as well. Well, unless I had an opportunity to humiliate her for her stupidity, then I may have stayed. So yeah, I think that was the issue and not the greater "rejection or approval of homosexuality" thing. Whether one rejects or approves of homosexuality is beside the point.

I agree and am surprised anyone outside of the usual suspects are taking it even remotely seriously.

I'm happy to see we are in agreement at least on something. It would be great if someone would start some threads for serious discussion, like say the problem of pedophile priests in the Catholic church and whether the church is doing enough about it - or - the discouragement of birth control in sub-Saharan Africa contributing to millions more deaths from Aids. But maybe the current events forum would be better for this.

We have serious discussions on here all the time. Misfit likes to lighten us up with News of the Weird, for which I am grateful.

I'm not sure what you expect any of us to do about birth control in sub-Saharan Africa, or their AIDS problem. I have no idea what the Catholics have to do with that or why we should give a damn.

I also haven't heard of any priest problems in awhile, so my understanding is the Church has it under as much control as possible.

What else do you want to talk about?

Catholics preach that the usage of condoms and contraception is 'sinful' to the unfortunate people in this part of the world, resulting in the deaths of many more, including children born with AIDS, than would otherwise be the case. Ironic that they offer assistance to the dying there, while creating more death and human misery through the proselytizing of Catholicism.

Regarding, pedophiliac priests, that was my assumption as well but I think the Vatican just received more criticism lately that they are still hiding these priests and have not done enough to defrock all such priests.
