“Do you have numbers to show that it’s the concealed carry permit holders that are committing crimes?” McCloy asked. “Because the lawful gun owner will say that you’re attacking the wrong person, it’s really people that are getting these guns illegally that are causing the violence, not the people going and getting the permit legally and that’s the basis for the whole Supreme Court argument. Do you have the numbers?”

“I don’t need to have numbers,” Hochul replied. “I don’t need to have a data point to point to to say this is gonna — All I know is that I have a responsibility to the people of this state to have sensible gun safety laws, and this one was not devised by the Hochul administration. It comes out of an administration from 1908. I don’t need a data point to make the case that I have a responsibility to protect the people of this state.”

So when Perez gets elected governor I am sure NY and California gun laws will look very relaxed compared to Maryland.
Perez won't get my vote, I am voting for Cox, but of course we have the PG ,Montgomery and Northern Charles voters allied with Baltimore City. He has a good chance of winning , Then we will live in a State ruled by the same man that is running Joe Biden. Hussein Insane Obama.

Gun-grabbing-ghoul blaming Clarence Thomas for death of 20-year-old mother pushing a stroller shot in NYC does NOT go well, like at all

His bio reads: Host @AmericaRisesUp. Gay AF. Dems are pro-U.S. @GOP is anti-women, pro-death & anti-democracy. We will win.

He also uses pretty predictable hashtags in his bio: #BlackLivesMatter, #IStandWithUkraine,’ and #GunSafetyNow.

The Right couldn’t come up with a more mock-worthy caricature of the Left if they tried.

ANYWAY, Andrew seems to think Clarence Thomas is to blame for the 20-year-old mother who was shot while pushing her baby in a stroller on the Upper East Side.

No, we’re not making that up:

New York Democrats Ignore Supreme Court Ruling and Ban Guns Just About Everywhere

New York Democrats in the state legislature were called into special session by Gov. Kathy Hochul in order to deal with an emergency situation. The U.S. Supreme Court had thrown out New York’s restrictive gun licensing law that made it nearly impossible for a citizen to carry a weapon for self-defense, and Democrats were experiencing near-apoplexy. Their paradise was about to be invaded by a bunch of gun-toting, whiskey-swilling, cowboy-hat-wearing yahoos. (That’s their vision of anyone wanting a concealed carry permit, anyway).

They solved their problem by passing another gun law. This one will also almost certainly go to court as well because rather than thumbing their nose at the Supreme Court, Democrats simply pissed on them.

Reuters:

The law, passed in an emergency legislative session, was forced by a landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling last week that struck down New York’s restrictive gun-license laws. The court’s conservative majority ruled for the first time that the U.S. Constitution grants an individual the right to carry weapons in public for self-defense. read more
New York’s Democratic leaders have decried the ruling and the court, saying there will be more gun violence if there are more people carrying guns.
They conceded they must loosen the state’s century-old permit scheme to comply with the ruling, but sought to keep as many restrictions as they could in the name of public safety. Some will likely be targets for further legal challenges.

That exemption for “public safety” was taken to ludicrous extremes.

The law passed on Friday makes it a felony crime to carry a gun into a new list of sensitive places, including: government buildings, medical facilities, places of worship, libraries, playgrounds, parks, zoos, schools, colleges, summer camps, addiction-support centers, homeless shelters, nursing homes, public transit including the New York City subway, places where alcohol or marijuana is consumed, museums, theaters, stadiums and other venues, polling places and Times Square.

Highland Park Attack Occurred Despite Red Flag Law, Other Stringent Gun Controls

A red flag law, a waiting period for gun purchases, licensing requirements, and numerous other gun controls did not prevent the July 4, 2022, Highland Park attack.

Mike Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety lists Illinois as the state with the sixth most stringent gun laws in the country.

Moreover, Gabby Giffords gun control group gives Illinois a grade of A- on gun control.

Illinois has a red flag law, a waiting period for gun purchases, gun owner licensing, domestic violence gun laws, “open carry regulations,” and numerous other gun controls.

The gun owner licensing is done via Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) cards. Only those with a FOID card can legally buy and possess a gun in Illinois and the process for acquiring a FOID card includes a background check.

The Illinois State Police listed the process for buying a gun in Illinois:

• Buyer must possess a valid FOID card.
• Buyer must verify local firearm ordinance requirements.
• Buyer must display valid FOID card to FFL prior to handling firearm.
• Buyer must complete Federal Form ATF 4473.
• FFL notifies the Illinois State Police (ISP), Firearms Services Bureau to perform
a background check in accordance with state and federal laws.
• FFL receives an “Approval” from ISP to transfer the firearm.
• Buyer must abide by the State of Illinois waiting period before taking possession
of the firearm. The waiting period for a long gun is 24 hours and 72 hours for a
hand gun.
• Upon taking possession of the firearm, the firearm must be unloaded and
enclosed in a case to transport.

Cook County has an “assault weapons” ban that also bans “high-capacity” magazines. In neighboring Lake County, the City of Highland Park has an “assault weapons” ban that also bans “large-capacity” magazines.

Two Teens Get an Object Lesson on Why the Second Amendment Matters

Case in point, Fox News offers this story from Texas:

A Texas father shot two attempted robbery suspects who approached his SUV with his wife and two infant children inside, police announced Monday.
The husband and wife were arriving to their home just after midnight Sunday evening when the two teenage suspects approached the vehicle. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that the suspects attempted to open the vehicle’s rear door, where the two children were seated.
“The adult male feared for the safety of his family and fired shots and struck both suspects,” Sheriff Ed Gonzalez wrote in a statement. “The wife was driving and drove away after the shooting to get away from the suspects.”

These foolish teens messed around and found out why Gun Rights Matter™.

In Harris County, which is in the Houston area, a crime occurs every two minutes, according to Crime Grade. Among its 4,434,450 residents, the total property crime in a year is 32.69 per thousand residents. Harris County gets a D grade because of this, so you can bet your bottom dollar that a good majority of the residents are armed. Carjackers do not care about whether you have a child or your elderly grandmother in the back seat, they just want to steal your car. This father ensured he was prepared to protect his wife and children. In disabling the carjackers, he did just that.

As more stories like this are reported, the Biden administration, and the feckless Beto O’Rourke, who is trying to unseat Governor Greg Abbott, will be hard-pressed to divest Texans of their guns.

Police have not released any identifying information regarding the father nor his family.
Police have opened an investigation into the incident but say the father was within his rights to open fire.

How the FBI Potentially Allowed Thousands of Bad Guys to Get Firearms

The National Instant Background Check System (NICS) is only as good as the people running it. Whenever there’s a mass shooting, the Democrats want to expand background checks. Background checks are required for all gun purchases made at gun stores with a Federal Firearms License (FFL). It’s a myth that 40 percent of all gun sales are done without a background check. That line was debunked years ago, though you sometimes see it sneak its way into anti-gun talking points. The expansion of background checks centers on private sales, which are minuscule and aren’t the cause of gun violence in America. Those transfers are primarily among family members via inheritances. Expanded background checks are the basis for creating a national gun database to confiscate firearms. Yet, before we can get into that debate, we need to figure out what the hell is going on at the FBI.

We know they were manufacturing evidence to prove the shoddy Russian collusion allegations. The corrupt FBI/DOJ also doctored evidence to secure spy warrants on Trump campaign officials, like Carter Page. The Department of Justice’s reputation is stained. That’s not new. What is somewhat disturbing is how they could not complete some 1 million background checks over the past couple of years, potentially allowing thousands of prohibited persons to purchase firearms. The background checks were simply not completed within the critical three-day period. After that, federal law says that the sale may legally go through if nothing turns up on the buyer. (via NBC News):

There were over 1 million opportunities for someone to buy a gun from a licensed dealer without a completed background check in 2020 and 2021, according to an FBI report released last month.
In all, 1,002,274 background checks — or 4.2 percent — took longer than three business days in 2020 and 2021, a higher share than any other period since at least 2014, according to data compiled by NBC News. After the third business day, federal law allows dealers to sell weapons while the background check is still pending, which potentially puts weapons in the hands of people who can’t legally own a gun because of mental illness or their criminal history.
The FBI ultimately completed about one-fourth of those delayed background checks and discovered that 11,564 people were able to buy guns in 2020 and 2021 before the check showed that they should not have been allowed to do so, according to the FBI report. Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives then had to retrieve the weapons.
But that number only accounts for a fraction of the delayed background checks. The FBI never completed 734,604 checks from January 2020 through November 2021, the most recent data available, because they took longer than 88 days — after which the bureau must stop its research and purge the unfinished checks from its system.
Some dealers choose not to sell weapons without a completed check, and many states also have more stringent requirements.
Still, it’s impossible to know how many people who bought guns after an unfinished background check would have been denied had it been completed.

‘Ghost gun’ legislation passes in Montgomery Co.

The term ghost gun has been used to describe firearms that can be assembled and manufactured with the help of a 3D printer. Police and legislators who’ve targeted the firearms said they’re concerned because of the lack of serial numbers and that the components — plastic — make them hard to detect.

The move passed by the Montgomery County Council also bars having ghost guns within 100 yards of a “place of public assembly,” like schools, churches or parks, and prohibits making a ghost gun with a 3D printer in the presence of a minor.

“This will give both our police department another tool in the toolbox to address issues of gun violence and do so in a way that helps keep all of our residents safe” said County Council Vice President Gabe Albornoz.

I must have missed the epidemic of Ghost Gun Crimes in Montgomery County

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS GETS ONE RIGHT

I’ve written more than once that the Associated Press is our number one source of liberal press bias, so this comes as a surprise. At a time when the Left is trying to use gun control to stave off electoral disaster, the AP unexpectedly gets rational:
