Keith Olbermann Triggered by SCOTUS Ruling on Concealed Carry

Many leftists who feel more comfortable with citizens not having the ability to defend themselves were outraged, but sports commentator Keith Olbermann was so triggered (see what I did there?) by the ruling, he called for the high court to be dissolved.

“It has become necessary to dissolve the Supreme Court of the United States,” Olbermann proclaimed on Twitter. “The first step is for a state the ‘court’ has now forced guns upon, to ignore this ruling. Great. You’re a court? Why and how do think you can enforce your rulings?”

Biden ‘Deeply Disappointed’ Over Supreme Court Ruling Upholding Second Amendment

Biden issued a statement saying that he was “deeply disappointed” in the court for its decision in the case.

“This ruling contradicts both common sense and the Constitution, and should deeply trouble us all,” he added.

The president appealed to recent acts of gun violence as evidence as to why New York’s law is needed while claiming that SCOTUS’ ruling endangers lives.

“In the wake of the horrific attacks in Buffalo and Uvalde, as well as the daily acts of gun violence that do not make national headlines, we must do more as a society — not less — to protect our fellow Americans,” Biden claimed. “I remain committed to doing everything in my power to reduce gun violence and make our communities safer. I have already taken more executive actions to reduce gun violence than any other President during their first year in office, and I will continue to do all that I can to protect Americans from gun violence.”

The president also encouraged states to “enact and enforce commonsense laws to make their citizens and communities safer from gun violence,” while noting that “the Second Amendment is not absolute.”

“For centuries, states have regulated who may purchase or possess weapons, the types of weapons they may use, and the places they may carry those weapons,” the president continued. “And the courts have upheld these regulations.”

SCOTUS Strikes Down New York Concealed Carry Restrictions

The Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that longtime restrictions New York has placed on carrying concealed firearms violates Americans’ Second and 14th Amendment rights.

The high court ruled 6-3 in favor of gun rights in the case of New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Bruen. The court heard oral arguments in the case in November, and the court’s conservative majority appeared to lean toward dismissing New York’s restrictions at the time. Thursday’s decision is the widest expansion of gun rights in more than a decade, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The case centered on a 1911 New York state law that conditioned the right to a concealed carry permit on “good moral character” and “proper cause.” The Supreme Court majority opinion, written by Justice Clarence Thomas, took issue with the latter condition, which unlawfully forced New Yorkers to demonstrate “a special need for self-defense.”

Kamala Harris Says Supreme Court ‘Defies’ Constitution By Upholding Second Amendment

Justice Clarence Thomas wrote the opinion and argued that New York’s requirement that citizens must demonstrate a need for concealed carry was unconstitutional.

“We know of no other constitutional right that an individual may exercise only after demonstrating to government officers some special need. That is not how the First Amendment works when it comes to unpopular speech or the free exercise of religion,” Thomas wrote. “It is not how the Sixth Amendment works when it comes to a defendant’s right to confront the witnesses against him. And it is not how the Second Amendment works when it comes to public carry for self-defense.”

The court also found that the law violated the 14th amendment.

“New York’s proper-cause requirement violates the Fourteenth Amendment in that it prevents law-abiding citizens with ordinary self-defense needs from exercising their right to keep and bear arms,” Thomas wrote.

While Harris may have thought the decision was in defiance of the Constitution, others praised the ruling.

House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) tweeted, “The Supreme Court makes it clear: Stripping law-abiding citizens of their 2nd Amendment rights is unconstitutional. Big win for freedom!”

And current MD Attorney General Brian Frosh is already mapping out ways to get around the decision. And yes, he leaves office this year but do you think that either Katie Curran O' Malley or Anthony "Empty Suit" Brown (one of them will be the next AG) will be any different?

How will the Supreme Court enforce it's ruling?
Just leave it to American gun owners.
We won't mind giving them a helping hand.

Senate passes bipartisan gun contol bill

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said the Safer Communities Act was the first major gun safety legislation to be passed since the Brady Bill in 1994

The Republicans who joined Democrats in voting for the bill were Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Sens. Richard Burr of North Carolina, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, John Cornyn of Texas, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rob Portman of Ohio, Mitt Romney of Utah, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, Todd Young of Indiana, and Roy Blunt of Missouri.

The usual suspects.

So who's going to be the first to send in their application for concealed carry. It should be someone who was denied once already for lack of cause.

🔥 In gun-free Nigeria, the government is pivoting. ZeroHedge ran a story yesterday headlined, “Nigerian Governor Orders Mass Issuance Of Gun Permits To Counter Murderous Hordes.” Historically, it was almost impossible for Nigerian citizens to get a carry license. But now, in the face of rampant violence by huge gangs of heavily armed bandits, one state governor has ordered the mass issuance of gun permits to citizens desperate for a chance to protect themselves.

The Associated Press was skeptical. What are these gun things of which you speak? It pondered, “It was not yet clear how arming citizens would help prevent the attacks; authorities have admitted that even the Nigerian police are sometimes overwhelmed during violent attacks.”

Arming citizens? How can THAT help against bandits with guns? But arming Ukrainians, that’s a different story. Arming Ukrainians makes perfect sense. But Nigerians? C’mon, man.

States with higher rate of gun ownership do not correlate with more gun murders, data show

Lawmakers and gun control advocates are calling for stricter gun laws following a series of mass shootings

Calls have rung out across the nation demanding gun control laws in a bid to curb violent crimes such as the recent series of mass shootings. Data, however, show that in states with higher percentages of households with at least one gun, crimes are not higher than in states with strict gun laws.

"Gun ownership is higher in states with fewer restrictions, and homicide rates in these states are lower. People can protect themselves," George Mason University Professor Emerita Joyce Lee Malcolm told Fox News Digital of what she's found through her research. Malcolm pointed to a study on burglars from 1986 that found 34% of burglars interviewed reported "to having been scared off, shot at, wounded or captured by an armed victim."

Fox News Digital compiled FBI data from 2019 detailing murders and gun murders per 100,000 population for most states, as well as assembled Rand Corporation data released in 2020 showing the percentage of households with at least one firearm in 2016. The data does not reflect the skyrocketing violent crimes of 2020 and likely undercounts the current percentages of homes with at least one firearm as it does not reflect the influx of Americans who rushed to arm themselves in 2020.

Good Lord just use your head.

Put a sign out front. Gun owner. Put another sign out front of the neighbor saying No guns here.
Think of yourself as a burglar. Which home will you burgle.

Depends if I want a gun or not.

Not a good practice to advertise one way or the other.
depends on how bad you want that gun and how bad I want to keep it, but I agree it isn't a good plan to advertise, I was just using that to appeal to those with common sense.
