It Happened To Me: I Cruised OkCupid And Craiglist For Dates So I Could Eat | xoJane


I decided I would use OkCupid and Craigslist (yes, even scary ol’ Craigslist) so I could have dinner three times a week without opening my wallet because let’s face it, there wasn’t anything in my wallet to begin with.

Every day I’d get messages from pretty decent dude. I decided that I couldn’t afford to limit myself to guys I actually wanted to date, I just had to go full throttle and just see who was willing to take me out. A meal is a meal!

I was thinking the same thing... I hate the idea of women who use guys just to get a meal or free drinks, but on the other hand the real reason a guy is buying her that meal or buying her drinks is because it might get him laid so it's a wash...:shrug:

Part of "dating" is getting to know people. There are no rules about just "dating" one person. Although, I think it's yucky when you're dating and screwing each person. But, maybe she'll meet a great guy in this process. Going out on a date with someone does not guarantee that you'll ever go out on a date with them again. She was just bold enough to tell the world that she used dating as a survival technique.

You'd think if someone was going to be a gold digging whore they'd be more ambitious than eating some general tsau's chicken or a rooty-tooty-fresh & fruity a couple times a week.





Btw... excellent method to find yourself tied up in some dude's basement while he decides if your skin is a suitable replacement for his shamwow.

Why is she a gold-digging whore? If men want to buy her dinner, why should she refuse? Nobody is putting a gun to these guys' heads and forcing them to feed her; they are doing it in the hopes of getting laid.

Is she screwing these guys in exchange? If so, I'd say she's selling herself awfully cheap. But if she's not....how does that make her a gold-digging whore?

Well, hopefully the guy will be able to quickly figure out she is only there to use him when she orders her meal and ask for it to be brought to the the table in a "to go box"...:ohwell:

If she doesn't do that... well then he got a dinner companion with pleasant conversation rather than having to dine alone so isn't that a wash...:shrug:

I don't think she wasn't a gold digging whore. It doesn't sound like she was putting out or asking for gold. She was just getting dinner out of it. I'm not a fan of online dating. It is dangerous. However, she's just going to a public restaurant to meet dudes and eat. If these dudes are stupid enough to meet a stranger and pay for her dinner, then they are stupid enough to get used for that dinner. It doesn't sound like her ads posting that she was looking for any long term. :shrug:

That's how I feel about this. It's like going to bars as a single woman. If a drink is bought for you, you do not refuse it. :lol:

BUT!!! She's only having dinner with them/him. She says that. If she goes home with him, OR goes somewhere else with him, then she's in another territory. Literally.

The more I think about this the more I wonder why a guy wouldn't be okay with this... seriously, don't most guys think they would be a good catch if only a woman would give him a chance? In this case, guys who might not have normally stood a chance of having dinner with her are now getting a chance to make that great first impression. I'm thinking if they were really date-worthy material she would accept a 2nd date and isn't that what first dates are all about? :shrug:
