Are the blue eyed Gyro's as coveted as the green eyed ones?

No, the green eyed are highly prized and even worshiped by some Sikhist sects. As you can see this one has a tinge of green, but not enough to qualify for anything but a pita filling.

Has anyone attempted to make it? Someone I know thinks it is an actual kind of animal or something, but I got a recipe, am getting a meatgrinder and will be making some soon. Any tips will be appreciated.

DR, I just got a meat grinder, new, in box. You're welcome to try it out.

Thank you, but too late.

If he thinks I'm eating this stuff, he's got another thing coming.

What thing is that?
I think you'll be fine if you don't watch the meat coming out of the grinder and plopping on the counter like a big old Rassie poop.

:lmao: I'm looking forward to grinding my own beef. I am just not pleased with what you get in the local stores, exception being Woodburns. But I don't always get over there, and they are pricey. As long as I can find a nice cut of Angus to grind, I'll be happy. Maybe I'll venture into sausage.....

What kind did you get?

pretty black roses
I loved it over seas (Gyro and a heineken for under a buck!!) Haven't had one here that was more than just "decent" though :frown:

There was a gyro place in Coronado that a lot of people raved about. If you are ever in San Diego, go thre and try it out. It is at the end of Orange Ave where the boat taxi is.

Well, I made it. Used the loaf pan and kind of over cooked it. Tastes good, but it's really springy, rubbery, something. BS Gal says it's all mine. :lmao:
Lunch all next week I guess.

Chalk it up to experience / experiment, and try again!

I did the same withe making burger meat. Found a nice eye round roast, ground it, looked terrif, cooked up terrible because there wasn't any fat at all in it..... 99% ground beef does not make good burgers.
