That was one creeeepy place!!!!
A few years ago I wanted to see first hand if Point Lookout was haunted. The tours for the lighthouse filled up, so myself, and 2 friends got dropped off at the little side road that leads down to the old fort. Soon as we go in the woods, 1 flashlight stops working. No biggie. We walk a bit farther, the 2nd flashlight starts flickering, and eventually cuts out. Now, it's a bit freaky (mainly because they had brand new batteries in them), and we're down to one flashlight. We start to hear noises in the woods (could very well have been an animal) and I saw my breath in the flashlight beam....in the middle of the summer.
We never made it all the way to the fort![]()
Anyone know of any truly haunted places in the area that are free and that dont require a "tour" or anything? Interested in paranormal happenings, and would like to check some out for myself. Been to Point Lookout, but the haunted lighthouse is fenced off now, and only does tours and I'm not sure where else to go there without trespassing. I like to go in and look without someone leading me around. Thanks!

point lookout is about a scary as my 7lb dog. lol
off the top of my head you could go to glen dale hospital. but its not in southern maryland. no really spooky places in somd. but glen dale was awesome. we even walked around all the underground tunnels connecting the hospitals. watch out for onsite PG cops though. park in nearby neighborhoods and walk over to it along tree line.
Spring Grove Hospital is also a awesome place. you can normally get in through the window direct on left wall of front doors. place was deff creepy.
Hell House in Ellicott City is also worth the drive. but is very hard to find out in the middle of the woods if you havent been. normally best to have someone whos been there take you. now that place was freeky.
Then there was that time that I was driving down a lonely road one dark and stormy night. When a little girl by the roadside showed up in my headlights. I stopped and she got in back and in a shaky tone. She said: My name is Mary, please won't you take me home?
She must have been so frightened all alone there in the night. There was something strange about her, for her face was deathly white. She sat so pale and quiet in the back seat all alone. I'll never will forget that night I took Mary home.
I pulled into the driveway where she told me to go. Got out to help her from the car and opened up the door. But I just could not believe my eyes 'cause the back seat was bare. I looked all around the car but Mary wasn't there.
A light shone from the porch, someone opened up the door. I asked about the little girl that I was looking for. Then a lady gently smiled and brushed a tear away. She said: It sure was nice of you to go out of your way.
But thirteen years ago today a wreck just down the road. Our darling Mary lost her life and we miss her so. Thank you for your trouble and the kindness you have shone. You're the thirteenth one who's been here bringing Mary home... it was that house...![]()
