My point is that this would be more believable if there weren't so many hoaxes out there where some black person pretends to be a victim of racial prejudice, and it gets all blown up in the media, only to find that the person cried wolf and the incident either didn't happen at all or didn't happen the way they said it did.

Or the media uses an isolated incident to pretend that this stuff happens all the time with ALL white and black people.

The following is not 'off the wall' and is very common.

I use to work at a carry out seafood market and we had a handful of about 10 customers that pretty much got every jumbo crab that came through there during the summer. They were good customers, they never complained, paid the full price no matter how high they went and were always reliable. Some of them would just leave their phone number in the begining of the year and say "call me if you get any in and I'll come and get them as soon as I can". Therefore I used to say "sold out" to alot of people even though we had some. I knew we would sell them to our repeat, no complaining about the size, weight, price of the crabs, customers.

On the other hand there were a certain select customers that I knew everytime I sold them crabs they would call back and complain, say they got sick or demand their money back even though they ate 3/4 of them.

So there could be more to this story then what appears at face value.

Reading through this thread the only thought that ran through my mind was if a vendor is out of jumbo crabs or does not choose to supply them to you, why would you go to a tv station to complain? I would much rather go to another supplier to purchase my crabs instead of wasting my time complaining about it:shrug: If the supplier is set up in the farmers market, then there are at least 3 other seafood vendors within a two block radius. I guess I am looking at it the wrong way!

Personally, I feel that this is one of the DUMBEST examples of a claim of racism. Why it has been given this much :any: media attention, :shrug:. I think all involved should get a swift kick in the ass with a side of STFU and let it roll. If WonderBread has a problem with the whole HomeSlice race, then may his crabs gouge out his eyes so that he may no longer see color. If HomeSlice is just overall bitter about WonderBread, may every crab he eats cause severe diarrhea.

Even more odd is that the above statement came from the poster who is calling our attention to the 'racial inequity' in the first place.

Then some giblet head claimed that the Jews are not a race. I will leave it to biblical historians to dispute that point, but as far as I know, the Jews are direct descendants of the 7 tribes of Israel. Their link is religion and heredity. A baby step away from being their own race.

When I first moved to PAX, there were roughly 5 distinct groups that hung with themselves, but could all get together and have fun on a Saturday night at the local hangouts. They were:
* local whites not employed on base
* local blacks not employed on base
* enlisted
* officers
* anyone employed on base (who also bridged the others..."Tyrone I want you to meet my friends Cletus and Commander Rosenberg." OBVIOUS stereotypes being used for illustrative purposes.)

When NAVAIR moved down here, I saw a lot more racial tension. When I saw kufi cloth and a yarmulke on the same day at Harvest Market I thought, "This might not go so well." I was right! Blacks (I won't say the 'N' word) are Jewing down the SMIBs!

Please allow me a suggestion... Before we fuel these threads anymore we should click over to the poster's profile. If it's from Charles or PG County we should ignore it. Just not respond. SoMD is Saint Mary's and Calvert and we still do pretty good with each other. We don't need to import hatred.

My MIL is Jewish and she says "jew", as in "jew them down", is a common expression and most people don't associate it with Jewish people anymore, not even Jews themselves.

Someone ripped my ass awhile back because someone else made a reference to "Japs" in a post and they thought it was as disrespectful as popping off the N word.

So since you can't say anything anymore without someone getting offended, might as well not even try. :shrug:
