Can someone please help me out? I discovered that my daughter had head lice 10 days ago.........its been a nightmare since. Im sure if I was talking about an average 11yr old childs hair I could get through this BUT .......Noooooo ..my daughter has thick long curly hair and im finding it VERY hard to get rid of them eggs. Its a 3hr job with the nit comb and the gel. How can I get to every hair follicle and remove the eggs......its impossible!! Yesterday I took her to the hairdressers and had 3inches taken off her hair and had it thinned out. I know ,I know that was wrong of me BUT I had no choice. Lets hope she cleans her combs after each client :( I treated her hair again Saturday and thought I had got rid of the eggs but this morning there is more in her hair . Ive washed her bedding during the process many times on boil wash......sprayed furniture (banned her to one chair :( ) Washed her clothes....... what more can I do....... Thankfully no one else in the house has got it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you tell the hairdresser that your daughter has lice? If so, I am surprised that she did anything with her hair. My last hairdresser told me that if someone came in with lice, they were immediately told to leave and that they had to disinfect everything in the shop.

:yeahthat: I want to know who the hairdresser was so I know NOT to go there.

It was at the end of her shift so she will Santize her combs. People have head lice and dont even know they have it soooooooooo u take a risk anyway when u visit the hairdresser. I came here for help and admitted I was wrong to do what I did BUT what else can I do. If I dont get rid of them ill be infesting her school? I was unable to get the tiny comb through her hair!! Bad mouth me all you like ........this was a case of doing best for my child.

What if the little buggers get on the sheet that goes around your neck and they infect someone else. Did you ever consider that if that happens, you may have damaged her business/livelihood.

How selfish of you.

What would you have done then??

Talk to her doctor, pharmacist and the school (and daycare if applicable). Nobody is judging you but it appears you don't know what to do. Your child cold have been infected through some other person's carelessness just as you are doing now.

There is certain protocol to follow when dealing with head lice.

My daughter was her LAST client. Also when i go the hairdressers Ive always been given fresh towels ect..... Like I said people have head lice and they dont even know they have it!! Im sure hairdressers are AWARE of it and have to sanatize EVERYTHING!! Call me selfish if thats what makes you feel better.........I dont care. I did what i HAD to do to try and prevent a major outbreak at school. As for damaging her buisness. Tell me how anyone can prove that they got head lice from a hairdressers tools? Hummmmm that would be hard dont you think??

What you did was wrong, period. It's one thing to not know you or your child has lice and unwittingly spread it, but you knew she had it, and you took her in anyways. What if the hairdresser ends up with lice? She can't very well go to work until it's gone, now can she? Like Catt said, if you were having problems with getting rid of the lice, you should have asked a doctor what to do. Hell, cut the kid's hair yourself, then go have it trimmed up when the problem has been corrected. You were dishonest, and you may have cost someone their reputation as a professional. Use a little common sense.

Where did you take her and did you inform the hairdresser of your daughters lice?

I contacted her school Monday of last week and spoke with the nurse. The nurse adviced me to just keep her off for the rest of the week seen as school was closing wed anyway. I contacted ALL her friends parents. Followed all the steps that you have to go through on the instructions. Boiled washed everything that my daughter has worn and used. I just couldnt get that nit comb through her hair as it was soooooooo thick. I parted it sectioned it....did what I could do. I had no choice to get it thinned out. Im going to call her doctor on Monday to see if they have anything stronger but I dont think there is any product to get rid of the eggs. They have to be removed manually :(Thanks for the link.

Some "steps" of interest that will probably make it easier:

Disperse thick conditioner thoroughly through the hair of the affected person. Doing so will make the hair silky and much easier to comb through with fine tooth combs, and will also loosen the eggs so that they slide right off the strands.

Separate and clip the hair up into four sections and start combing, stopping to wipe the lice and eggs on a towel every few strokes. Continue until all the sections are done.

Does my butt look big?
If you are having trouble removing the eggs..just kill all the adults and treat her every other day killing adults and you will get the hatchlings and they wont grow to lay more eggs..just stay on top of killing the live bugs ...find the life cycle and that will tell you how long you have to keep treating the live ones..good luck...

Will answering your question get rid of her head lice?
Nope, but why should I answer your questions and you not answer mine. Being a ##### will get you nowhere.
