I hope you gave the shampoo girl and the hairdresser a BIG tip. :yay:

Call her doctor- they will be able to give you complete instructions and options to get rid of it.

On another note- don't say you were trying to avoid an outbreak at your daughter's school on one hand, and then say that you took her to a hairdresser and did not disclose her condition. That causes outbreaks, too. People are so upset with you on these posts because you lied at the risk of others and then want sympathy. I know you've learned a lesson, so that is good.

Anyways, the doctor should easily be able to help you out to get your daughter back in school.

Not sure how you drew that conclusion...

Can someone please help me out? I discovered that my daughter had head lice 10 days ago.........its been a nightmare since. Im sure if I was talking about an average 11yr old childs hair I could get through this BUT .......Noooooo ..my daughter has thick long curly hair and im finding it VERY hard to get rid of them eggs. Its a 3hr job with the nit comb and the gel. How can I get to every hair follicle and remove the eggs......its impossible!! Yesterday I took her to the hairdressers and had 3inches taken off her hair and had it thinned out. I know ,I know that was wrong of me BUT I had no choice. Lets hope she cleans her combs after each client :( I treated her hair again Saturday and thought I had got rid of the eggs but this morning there is more in her hair . Ive washed her bedding during the process many times on boil wash......sprayed furniture (banned her to one chair :( ) Washed her clothes....... what more can I do....... Thankfully no one else in the house has got it. Any advice would be appreciated.

boo-f***ing-hoo your a parent, its part of parenting. as for the hairdresser. thats just effing disgusting.

Hey when I was a child I had hair down to my butt. I contracted Head Lice. My mom and My dad work in shifts to rake through my head and they both got mad and cut off all of my hair. My hair was short, short, short. My niece got head lice when she was younger and I had to help my sister in-law with her. She had long hair plus she was a squirmier. We sat all day long working with her hair. She was kicking and screaming the whole time too. We did got rid of them.
You should of not have taken her to the hairdresser. But what gets me is not that you took her, but why the hairdresser even agreed. to it.

My advise for you is to separate her hair into 6-8 different sections. Work one section at a time. work slowly. It might take all day but at-least you will get rid of them.

She didn't. She wasn't told and probably wasn't looking for lice. My daughters was very hard to see and there weren't many eggs......yet.

If it was my son I'd shave his head and he wouldn't care. My daughter would be so ashamed if I had to shave her head. It sucks that we are still so stuck on male/female roles that hair length still matters.

I'd have no problem shaving my head if I got them. That's just me, though.

Do all of you guys realize everytime you go to the movies you risk getting head lice? Give me a break, when I go to the stores I always see people trying on hats....going to a hair salon and getting lice would be difficult at best unless it was someone out of their house and not up to code. You go anyplace nice and clean, even if you were after someone with head lice the chances would be so low as to not even worry about it. About using NIT over and over, there are resistant lice out there and you can give your children Leukemia. Ask your doctors for a prescription if NIT doesn't work for you. Keep in mind, lice is gross, but it doesn't spread diseases, so there is no health issue except for the ick factor. Applying NIT over and over is POISON to your child. Now if you all of you can use some common sense and stop moralizing and giving bad advice this site might actually be useful once in awhile.

Come on you know how much pestisides we are exposted to day after day...a couple weeks to kill lice is not going to kill anyone......I handle fly sprays for the horses daily and dog dips..and never wear gloves I would say I have been over dosed on pestisides..I am still here..think about the food we eat and what has been sprayed on that...

Ok, your'e talking horses and dogs here. Not children. Unless your'e from PETA and equate an animals life with human life. The second point you brought up is that you dip your animals without gloves. That's a risk you are willing to make. Are you willing to have your child soak his/her hands in the same solution? I personally can strip furniture without gloves with no damage, but I won't have my kids do the same. Yes we are exposed to insecticides every day, but I would not intentionally over-expose my children, especially after finding out about the risks. If RID didn't work the first time, why do it again? My point here is, don't endanger your children knowingly. I would consider that bad parenting.

My daughter has worked for me..yes she has dipped animals with no gloves..

point being it is most important to get rid of the lice....rid will work the first time....she just needs to keep using it to keep the lice down as the eggs hatch...

you put it on the kids head for a few minutes and rinse it off...there is not alot of exposure...I think it is more important to rid of the bugs then worry about a little exposure...same active ingredient is safe for kittens and pups at 1-2 lbs..we are talking a kid here...alot bigger...get a grip

Pasofever, obviously you treat your kids worse than your animals. But I'm blaming your ignorance and not your good intentions in parenting. Go to www.s-e-a.net/dangers.html and scroll down. It lists different ingredients and dosages involved and you'll see RID is more dangerous than you ever assumed. You can't pick up a parenting magazine without reading about the dangers, so I assume your children are older because it's only in the last few years that the health agencies have started to put the word out. BritUSA, I would suggest you call your doctor for advice rather than take the information here on this site to heart.
