Headlights question

I have the SilverStar headlights - replaced the regular headlights with them rather recently. Awesome improvement! I can now see with the lowbeam what once was visible only with highbeam! I will say though, more expensive - $19.95 a piece, but worth it for as much driving that I do.

I put in a pair about a year and a half ago. I will be changing them soon, but they are still brighter than regular stock lights.

I duct taped 2 - Q-3000 Q-Beam spot lights to the truck. I am pushing 4,000,000 candle power.. The radio gets scratchy and the dash lights dim when I switch those babies on but I can see about 2 miles in level straight roads. I am also visable for 25 miles from the air. :yay:

The first advertisement I saw for Silverstars said they were 65/120. They meant they were 65 watts but were as bright as 120W. My Vette has such inferior headlight wiring that I would probably get more light by replacing the harness alone.
NO that means you've got 65 watts low beam and 120w on high. These are not legal to use on the road. the 55/65 are the max legal. With the 65w lights you're drawing about 5.4 amps. You bump that up to 120w and the current goes to 10 amps. This is why the relay and wiring harness melted.

Foe some reason, I believe you probably have already tried this, pete, and are providing a public service to your constituents!

Spotlights are the way to go, or if someone does not want to duct tape them (which works just fine) they could get 6 KC-Highlights mounted to the bumper

I should have had a question mark behind that. the article was confusing as they were talking about a 9006 bulb that I thought was single filament or is there a filament at all?

Where is the best place to get the Silverstars?

They say that they are available at Advance Auto Parts, AutoZone, or Pep Boys
Thanks,
Advance Auto, $29.97 a twin pak minus a $5 mail in rebate. $24.97! They do light up the night. I'll post a pic comparing stock vs. SilverStar.

I bought a set of SilverStar headlights at Autozone in Lexiington Park this last Tues. Installed them right there in the parking lot.(real hard, 4 screws per light)

Ah, those suckers are bright! I was getting a few motorists who were flashing their highbeams at me, but only one or two.

Overall, with the added brightness, the better view I have at night with them, I'm going to be keeping them, I think. With the deer population, such as it is on Rte 4 and Rte 235, I feel safer that I'll see them sooner.

PS: What I do, when I encounter someone coming the other way with these headlights is to look towards the rightside of the road until they've passed me.

Are these those insanely bright bluish/purple looking headlights that blind oncoming cars?

I thought they were going to bann them?

No, the SilverStars that I have on my truck aren't bluish at all, just bright.

The others, I don't know about them being banned.
