Heard the rescue trucks go by

From the comment section, it doesn't sound like the white truck stuck around after the accident???

Didn't even slow down.

Danzig is quite the professional and would never allow any sort of photo to be posted that was in any way, shape, or form showing offensive material.

That being said, it was a picture of the car that impacted the pole and the wreckage to the car was quite extensive. I'm hoping the driver and any passengers survived.

No passengers. I thought that the driver died at the scene, but the comments on facebook make me question that. I left before the chopper left, and a lot of the emergency personnel were leaving. That's why I assumed the kid had died.

The article on TheBayNet says only one was in the vehicle and they were flown out from the scene to a trauma center:

One flown from car crash - Southern Maryland News

And this in from Smnewsnet:

Suspected Drag Racing Leads to Serious Accident | Southern Maryland News Net

Witnesses at the scene said the Civic appeared to be racing a truck and tried to pass in the right turn lane, before losing control and crashing into the pole.

:ohwell:

I was expecting to hear that it was someone in his 20's and not a 45 year old "man." I can't believe he made it out alive

Uhhh, what? Where did you hear this? I was there, and he looked damn good for being 45. I put him at late teens, early 20s. That being said, I also didn't want to get super close to it/him, because I didn't want to lose my lunch.

UPDATE: The Driver of the the 1992 Honda Civic is described as a 45 year old white male from Denton, Maryland. He was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma and is currently listed in critical condition

That was unexpected.... He looked mad young.

I'm betting he has a little more respect for:

illegal passing on the right
racing in evening traffic
the effect of high speed on a freshly grated road being prepped for a new surface.

Damn, he survived that. I might get a Honda.

He shouldn't have. He lucked out. He only survived that because there wasn't a passenger, so the motor pushed him into the empty passenger seat. Think about that..... the motor was in the drivers seat. I don't think I want a Honda....

what a horrible looking mess. Thank God he didn't hit anyone else.

No kidding. I have zero sympathy for him, by the looks of the car I'm shocked he made it out alive. I'm beyond thankful that he didn't hit anyone else on the road. My son & I had just made it to the BJs parking lot when all hell broke loose. I'm thankful we didn't witness that or worse yet, get hit by this idiot!

Seriously! I figured it'd be some young punk driving. 35/45, whatever.......still WAY to old to act so childish.
