i am having a serious problem with heartburn. It's so bad I spent last night trying to sleep sitting up because it was so bad I couldn't lay down. Rolaids and tums just aren'tcutting it anymore. anyone have any suggestions/home remedies before I head to the doctor's?

Cantaloup. I ate tums like candy when I was preggers.

No suggestions sorry, but I hear that means your lil one will have lots of hair. Hope you find something that helps.

Good luck with your lil one.

sure turned out that way with the first one. maybe it's pregnancy amnesia, but I just don't remember it being THIS bad the first time around.

I use Zantac 150, OTC generic from Target. Works better than Nexium (prescription) for me.

I don't see any pregnancy warnings on it, but obviously call the OB first.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear you're in pain. Looks like you've gotten some suggestions, hope they work. When are you due?

I had severe heartburn with all 3. All of them were born with a full head of hair. I was told with my first 2 that I could not take Mylanta so I munched on Tums the entire time. This last one, I was told that I could take Mylanta and it worked. I also noticed that the heartburn would go away after a few spoonfuls of ice cream. :yum:

Funny, I had heartburn when I was PG but that didn't stop my intense craving for spicy Mexican food. Try bicarb (baking soda) and water. Other common remedies I've found are:
- Eat earlier in the evening and don't exercise before bed
- Ground fresh ginger (mix a teaspoon in a glass of water)
- Green tea
- Cider vinegar (tablespoon)

Good luck and feel better!

That's what I've been taking. Someone had me try mixing baking soda with water and drinking it. It didn't work and it tasted like butt. :barf:

Hmm...I looked like Frankenbaby when I was born. My hair was covering my forehead. I wonder if my mom had heartburn....
