So, the NAM brought down the DC area quite a bit.. what about the NAS PAX area? :tap:

12Z NAM has us down to 0.5" liquid equivalent. The 12Z GFS won't be out for another hour.

Sterling has cut back on tonight's total, they were saying 3-7" now it is 2-4", but for the entire event that would give us 4-8". That's what made me believe they would downgrade the Heavy Snow Warning...
NAS Forecast

Radar looks good though:
Intellicast Radar

Snow started in Richmond around 7 and the temperature fell to 33:
RIC obs

So still looks like we'll get something, but probably on the lower end of 4 to 8.

At least that's what it looks like this hour :tap:

Looks like they are expecting an intense area of precip to overspread the area toward evening, then during that short period of time we'll get the majority of our snow. It's going to be a very close call I think...

Yeah... here is Channel 9's update...

<img src="http://www.wusatv9.com/assetpool/images/05125102319_web_special1.jpg"/img>

After looking at the morning computer data and the storms development, we (the 9 Weather Team) are lowering are totals slightly. 3"-5" for the metro, more south, less northwest.

See.. this is why I hate all these snow threads. St. Mary's NEVER knows what to expect until the actual even is over and we see what's on the ground. :ohwell:

And for those at the southern tip of St. Mary's who are going to biatch tomorrow morning about school being closed or delayed when they look out the window and don't see much by way of accumulation... let's remember your schools are in the same county as those that will have 8 inches are so on the ground outside their windows...:bonk:

Heavy snow warning remains in effect until 7 am est Tuesday.
A heavy snow warning remains in effect until 7 am est Tuesday.
Low pressure developing over the gulf states will track northeastward
over the carolinas this afternoon, and then well east of the delmarva
tonight.
Snow will increase in intensity this afternoon, and continue into the
evening hours. Between 3 to 6 inches of snow is expected to fall across
the central shenandoah valley. 4 to 8 inches will fall across central
virginia and southern maryland, including charlottesville,
fredericksburg, and solomons.
This amount of snowfall could cause significant and widespread travel
problems. The weight of the snowfall could also cause some power
outages. If you live in the warned area, it would be a good idea to check your
winter storm survival kit. Also, if you must travel during the height
of this storm, carry a winter emergency kit in your car.
