Help a Small Business - Order to Close Immediately!

It's Official - Ridge Hardware received the order to close it's business this morning (Sat Dec 12th) at about 8:40am. This was served by 2 St. Mary's County Sheriff's Deputies on behalf of Dr. Brewster of the St. Mary's County Health Department.

After numerous visits by health department employees in the last 2 weeks, not once was I, the proprietor of the business, given an opportunity to talk to them about mitigation efforts or to present my side. In fact during one visit, my employee was told by the health department inspectors that it was above their paygrade to wait the 3 minutes for me to arrive to discuss the situation. Their inspection reports show erroneous information, but I at this point have not been able to talk to anyone from the health department. My calls have not been returned or go unanswered (today they are closed).

I feel I have been unfairly targeted as a small business owner when big box stores are more susceptible to an "unreasonable risk of exacerbating the spread of covid".

Call the Health Department @ 301.475.4330 (email smchd.healthdept@maryland.gov) if you think they are applying the "orders" unfairly. Call your elected officials if you think this is unfair. Feel free to come protest in my parking lot.

So are you closed as of now? We’ll swing by in the afternoon to show support and buy limited torque wrench, if you gots them.

We are closed at the moment waiting on some calls on how to proceed. We do carry a torque wrench. Not sure of the specs at the moment. Thx for your support!

@TPD - when are people gathering to protest - and have you shared this on Facebook yet? I want to share it but I don't know how without copying and pasting your post.

Also, since they are shutting businesses down by gunpoint now, I just notified my local delegate here in Calvert county.

This really sucks, TPD. I hope to see you on the national news with a thousand protestors/ friends outside your store showing their support!

Wish I was there - I would happily come down and join the protest. This is such bullshit and you know the only reason she's doing it is because you dared to question her authority.

Here is the SMC Health Dept "Leadership":

Of course it's a bunch of freaking women. No doubt every single one of them is a Leftist Democrat.

Do you know who called them on you? I'd ban that person from my store and publicly shame them.

We still don't know if it is one customer or numerous. But I can't believe that walmart, target or lowes does not get a complaint everyday and have not received an order to comply.
