We still don't know if it is one customer or numerous. But I can't believe that walmart, target or lowes does not get a complaint everyday and have not received an order to comply.

Can we share this on FB somehow? I want to be able to let others know publicly so they can go support you! We can also all target the BIG BOX STORES so we can see how health department goes after them!

It's Official - Ridge Hardware received the order to close it's business this morning (Sat Dec 12th) at about 8:40am. This was served by 2 St. Mary's County Sheriff's Deputies on behalf of Dr. Brewster of the St. Mary's County Health Department.

After numerous visits by health department employees in the last 2 weeks, not once was I, the proprietor of the business, given an opportunity to talk to them about mitigation efforts or to present my side. In fact during one visit, my employee was told by the health department inspectors that it was above their paygrade to wait the 3 minutes for me to arrive to discuss the situation. Their inspection reports show erroneous information, but I at this point have not been able to talk to anyone from the health department. My calls have not been returned or go unanswered (today they are closed).

I feel I have been unfairly targeted as a small business owner when big box stores are more susceptible to an "unreasonable risk of exacerbating the spread of covid".

Call the Health Department @ 301.475.4330 (email smchd.healthdept@maryland.gov) if you think they are applying the "orders" unfairly. Call your elected officials if you think this is unfair. Feel free to come protest in my parking lot.

any fast food eatery in Great Mills, Lexington Park, California, Hollywood, oh yeah Aldi, Hobby Lobby, Mission Barbeque, Craker Barrel, WaWa, Sheetz....

TPD, I have always loved your honest truth on this forum. The fact that you are a farmer and biz owner, has always made me wonder how you keep up with it all. You are a current pioneer that reflects our ancestors. I am in awe of how you are standing up to tyranny. If I still lived in SoMD, I would be part of your protest. I cannot be there, but do support your fighting back. God bless you, and the USA. :patriot:

This was quickly organized - good on them! :yay: :yay: I was trying to change around my plans, guys, but I can't today. Ridge is an hour 1 way for me - and I had a day of pre-Christmas things already planned - so it would significantly cut into my day. :bawl: I will be there in spirit and watch for any FB live videos!

@TPD - I know you didn't plan this impromptu peaceful gathering, but what about another one - possibly at the Courthouse? OR Better yet, someone else I know from St. Mary's sent me a message when I told them about this- how about a gathering across the street from the Health Department Dr. Brewster's house? 🤔

(a couple days' notice, too! )

Apologies TPD, but I know I won't be able to make it. Today is the first day (and likely the only day until Christmas) my wife and I have been off on the same day since Black Friday. She's got a list of chores for me a mile long.
