I have heard about some comments being made elsewhere that we have been vague with our posts so people are not sure what they are supporting. Let me try to sum it up -

Someone or more than one continues to call the health department to complain about 2 of my employees not wearing a mask. I have informed the health dept (in August) that those employees have told me they have a medical condition exempting them from wearing a mask. This exemption is clearly written in Hogan's executive order. Originally health department employees told me to put plexiglass at the counter as mitigation for these employees. We did that and all seemed good for 2 or 3 months until last week when they starting coming in again for inspections. I just got word last night that all employees must wear a mask, no medical exemptions, or they cannot work until the pandemic is over. No where in the governor's order is this stated, and as far as I can see Dr. Brewster does not have her own separate order stating this. It is listed in their inspection reports under "recommended per public health guidance". These seem to be rules she is making up as we go along. IMO I am doing what is allowed under the Governor's order.

On 2 of the inspection reports, they marked us as not having a sign on the door requiring face coverings (governor's order) when clearly the sign is on the door and has been since August. I even have video of their August visit where I pointed out the sign to them. This sign as never moved since August but it magically disappeared last week? I don't think so.

Those are the big issues, along with me pushing back and questioning their authority which then put me on their radar screen in August to be a prime target of theirs. I'm sure Dr. Brewster would give you a different story based on her employees visits. All I have to go on is their inspection reports since they have not talked to me personally. Of course their are other details in the reports that gets in the weeds too much for a public forum.

One could assume from some of the FB comments, who has been calling the health dep't on your store.
As a small business owner myself (well, at least for the next week!), I have been critisized for the way I run my store. More than one a$$hole has been told to shop elsewhere! And many people told the "Karen's" in the Baynet to not shop there if they had an issue!
Though I have been knee deep in the closing of my own store and had some chores planned for today, I am driving to Ridge to support this store and the owner/employees.
I will have a DOG MOM hoodie on if anyone want to say HI!

Disclaimer: I am in no way taking up for the authoritarian overreach of any appointed official in this matter.

Legally, it seems that Dr. Brewster doesn't need any specific or additional authority from the Governor, the Governor's emergency declaration is enough. Within COMAR (paragraph 10.06.01.06 C) "A health officer or the Secretary shall order cessation of operation of a business or facility determined or suspected to be a threat to public health until the public health threat is determined by the health officer to have ceased."

Sorry to not be there, got up late today and just saw this thread.

Hopefully you don't get served with warrant in the middle of the night like one pub owner did.

They ordered you to close because you haven’t complied and not because you are being “targeted” and don’t give crap about other people pretty simple from all your postings I have read you haven’t made any of your employees wear masks as you have posted not just the ones with medical conditions which be pretty simple to prove stop whining and give a crap about your fellow citizens
