I agree. I made a total lifestyle change last fall and cut out all simple sugars and starches. By not eating rice, potatoes, pasta, cakes, and candies, I dropped about 60 pounds within a matter of 4 months. I still eat the same, focusing solely on vegetables and proteins and 1 or 2 slices of high fiber low carb bread. Unless you are really serious about removing high carb, high calorie foods from your diet, nothing will work. You have to have the willpower to make your kids a cake and watch them lick the icing off their fork and not take even one bite..... it's not easy.

I have cut carbs out and doing ALOT of exercising. Not aerobic type stuff but TONS of manual labor. Hauling rocks, making a stone path, mowing, and rearranging furiture etc. I am also taking Phentermine to curb the appetite. To tell you the truth, I have to force myself to eat now! I took it a few years ago and it worked great! Just started again Wednesday.

What is this Phentermine stuff and where do I get it? And does it make your heart race?

I would research weight watchers, they have some great diet ideas and meals. IMO food is only 1/2 the equation, you need to also adapt an active lifestyle which includes walking, biking, being proactive with the kids etc. etc.

There are no quick solutions, if you really want to do this, it's a lifestyle change. Nothing will ever work for you if it's not in your heart to succeed...

Weight watchers is the best IMO because it actually teaches you to eat right, lower calories, smaller portions etc. not cut things out.

I also think it's not healthy to lose more that 10% of your bodyweight in too short of a time. I'm not sure what that timeframe is, you'd have to ask a doctor.

Walking is probably one of the things that keeps me where I'm at, not that I'm worried or anything.

In that monsterous store, I swear I run up and down it creating a three plus mile sprint each day.

I used Weight Watchers. The plan is good because you can eat pretty much what you want, as long as it is nutritious. It's not the quickest way to loose the pounds, and you have to keep up with it, but I lost 25 pounds. in about 3 months.

Most any doctor would write a prescription I would think. I bought it online. There is a brief health questionair that you fill out and they say their doctor reviews it and writes you one.

Jayden, the diets are fine and all (just find one you can live with) but don't forget the exercise!!! You'll lose weight faster than by diet alone, and you won't get that "thin yet flabby" look :barf:

Besides, you would be surprised how much BETTER regular exercise makes you feel in general.

I don't like diets because they tend to produce temporary results. What you really need to do is change your habits.

Skip the sodas and alcohol and drink only water.

Walk around the neighborhood each day.

Replace one meal entirely each day with either a leafy garden salad and a very small amount of lowfat dressing, or chicken noodle soup.

No snacks or junk food, except a lowfat popcorn or ricecakes - don't exceed a single serving as a snack.

Eat HALF of the portion size that you would normally eat. (Read the serving sizes and nutritional information on everything you buy.) If you go out to dinner, when your meal arrives cut it in half so you have leftovers for tomorrow.

Slight occasional deviations are OK when you want that ice cream or brownie. But for the most part, changing bad habits should make you a happy camper in no time. :cheers:

Point blank, the only way to lose weight is to reduce consumption. Try this formula: Decide how much you want to weigh, multiply that number by 10, and use that number as your caloric intake per day (120x10=1200 calories). :yay:
