So now Sharon is to blame for you chosing not to attend church. :rolleyes:
My comment was un-called for. I actually went to a wedding a couple of weeks ago and think I will start going to church again. I just have a hard time in church. Cry every time they start singing. So, I apologize to Sharon for that comment. I was waaaaaaaaaaaaay wrong.

I'm am sorry to hear about your sister. That is an aweful thing to happen. :huggy:

It is a terrible thing for innocent people to die. Especially children. I cannot give you advice on how to handle your situation. But I can tell you that I believe God has your sister in a much better place now. I am not sure why God allows aweful things to happen. But I'm sure he has a reason, and I don't believe we have the ability to understand his reasoning. So all we can do is pray that your sister looks down on us with a smile and wispers in the wind for us to join her in heaven.
BS Gal, I'm sorry about your loss. :huggy:

We had a discussion about this a year or two ago, and what dustin says is right, I think.
We can't possibly know why God would allow a little child to suffer, let alone die needlessly. Some feel that God has a better plan for them, better than what they have had, or will have on this earth. The feeling is that He took them to a better place to ease the suffering, or prevent it.

That's the gist of it.

Thanks for that. I guess there is a reason for everything, though hard to understand. Look at 9/11. Why? Maybe to bring people together?

It feels to me that you are just looking for a little peace... As you probably can honestly look inward and know, you will not have a conclusive answer. You may want to look to spirituality and God and perhaps religion to help you become what you need to become, more serene, and let faith get you through when all else fails. What you will learn from the pain and suffering will hopefully be the offerring of peace and emotional strength to another someday, someway with your experience and hope.

That's just how we all get by.

I am not as ready to offer scripture as 2nd A is but I will hopefully offer something....
Christ was confronted on several occasions with the exact same question...just different circumstances.

"Teacher, my little girl is sick, please hurry!"
"Master, I have a loyal servant who is ill,...if you will only comand it..."
"Teacher, you dear friend Lazarus is dying...there is no time to waste!!"

In each of the cases, Christ DID NOT RUN, ..he confronted the situation and even taught from the circumstance. Yes he raised Lazarus, brought life back to the girl and even marvelled at the faith of the Roman officer and granted his request. So...why didn't he just "nod" like a genie and all problems are solved?

It is because He recognized that Faith is more important than miracles. He also recognized how temporal our lives are ("How much longer will I be with you?") and thus...all of us naturally ask the why questions but it is reassuring to realize--we don't make the rules, we don't see the whole plan, we only play a small role in HIS eternal kingdom.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Refrain

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

Refrain

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Refrain

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

Refrain

But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!

Refrain

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

Refrain

Spafford wrote this after losing most of his family in a Ship wreck...how many thousands have these words comforted of the decades? He was calle dhome only weeks after composing this...Did he understand his loss? Read the words and draw a conclusion.
Want to here it as you read?

Christ is calling ...only some need to be awakened to hear the call.

You cry because you have regret - whether it's your sister or your son growing up or whatever it is that makes people feel nostalgic and melancholy. So when you hear voices lifted in unity, you feel the power of purpose but you don't feel a part of it. And what that triggers is a sense of sadness and loss.

Certain things just catch me. I bawled through the whole second act of "Rent". :lol:

(If you've never seen it, the second act is when Mimi, the AIDS ridden drug addict prostitute, is lamenting her wasted life. The gal that played her had this voice that just sent a chill through you - haunting and just...I can't think of a word to describe it.)

I also bawled through "Cats" when Grizella sang "Memory" and now get weepy everytime I hear that song. :lol:

So was it God's fault? I don't understand why you want 2A to explain why God would allow something like that when humans are fallible. In this case it could be the pool cleaner or someone who was supposed to be watching the child. In any case, accidents happen that are beyond our control. Sure it's easy to think about the "what if's" and "if I'd have only done this or that" then the outcome would be different. If you're looking for the answer and you still believe in God, ask him. Do you blame God? If you don't believe then there's no point in asking.
Couldn't one argue that God gave 'us' choice and with that choice we 'accidentally' or not lost that child. In this instance, It wouldn't be God's fault but perhaps those truly responsible for the child. People sometimes need someone to blame and who better than someone you've never met personally.
