Couldn't one argue that God gave 'us' choice and with that choice we 'accidentally' or not lost that child. In this instance, It wouldn't be God's fault but perhaps those truly responsible for the child. People sometimes need someone to blame and who better than someone you've never met personally.

Nothing gets by you, does it BuddyLee.

Did you feel that? It was a whooosh!

I lost my oldest brother (my parent's firstborn) when I was too young to know or understand it. Why he was born with the conditions he was I'll never know. But I know he was put onto this Earth for a purpose. Although I never knew him, he has helped keep me grounded when I think too much of myself and start lamenting "why me" for his problems were much more than I could ever hope to bear.

BSGal, I am truly sorry for you loss as I share the same sort of pain. :huggy:

Certain things just catch me. I bawled through the whole second act of "Rent".

I also bawled through "Cats" when Grizella sang "Memory" and now get weepy everytime I hear that song.

You know what gets me? One line from the Bob Seger song "Like a Rock", when he says: "20 years now, where'd they go? 20 years, I don't know.".

I can't even watch Chevy truck commercials anymore.

Got bored, huh? Happens every time you people run out of things to rant about. Gotta go rattle 2A's cage for entertainment. :barf:

FOR THE RECORD, by the way, 2A didn't start this one!

BS_Gal,

I'm very sad to hear about your little sister. I can only imagine your grief and that of your family. There are no nice, pat answers for a situation like this. I do wonder, however, if you have considered the other side of this tragedy: You were blessed with a little sister for three years. That's not much of a consolation I know. sorry.

Give church a try. A good church should have grief counseling that may help you some, and if their theological perspective strikes a chord within you, then so much the better. If you would like information of that sort from my church, send me a PM and I'll pass it along to you.

As for the prospect of finding many comforting opinions from the smarty-pants people on this board, good luck. Most of us have hearts that are just too hard for that sort of thing. Sometimes it seems that this boad is just a place where they can show off their bravado. I'd like to think that they aren't this way all the time.

Let me clarify. I have asked him a question because I have followed his threads (read them every day) and am looking for an answer to my doubts. I actually started reading the Bible. I would NEVER start an argument with him because I have respect for him and his beliefs.. I am only looking for some answers. I am between starting to go to church again and not.
I am sorry for your loss. It does not matter how long ago or how recent, the loss of a loved one can haunt us with questions.

People were created to live forever. They were created to walk with God and were created with freewill so that human love would mean something. Humans were created to be above the angels. Some of the angles didn't like that. One of them is Lucifer, the bright shining one, who is now satan. Satan tempted Eve and we all know how that story came out. The result was sin came into the world.

Sin is the cause of death. Without sin, there would be no death. I am not saying that your sister was being punished for her sins or died because of the sins of someone else. I cannot and do not presume to know the mind of God. All I know that since the fall of man, death has been in the world and we all suffer from the common affliction of death. Even those Jesus cured and raised from the dead all eventually died. God used the healing and raising from the dead as evidence that Jesus was not just a man; they were for His purpose.

We are possessive creatures. My sister, my child, my father, my ... , but in reality, we are all God's creation. We are in this life no matter how long or short for His purpose only. I am sure your little sister brought great joy into your life and that of your family. She gave you love reflected from God. If we can get to where we can release our possession to God, then we can be more peaceful about our losses.

God knew your little sister before she was born. He watched over her on this earth. Jesus said:
Matthew 10:29-31

29"Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.

30"But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31"So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.
God knew how many hairs your sister had on her head. She is (not was) precious to Him. Remember that although all are sinners, we are judged on what we know if we have not had an opportunity to accept salvation through Jesus. She had little knowledge of the world and I trust she is in my Father's kingdom right now. I don't know why she was taken at such a young age. Maybe because if she had lived, she would have had some terrible disease and suffered. I just don't know.

I do know that God loves all of us. He does not want any of us to be lost. He loves you.

One reason God gave us the Church (body of believers, not a denomination or building) is for comfort, encouragement, and strength.
Hebrews 10

<sup id="en-NASB-30157">23</sup>Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;

24and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds,

25not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
I can only pray that you find comfort and peace. I encourage you to find a body of believers that love you. There is one that will love you and provide guidance and comfort. You are welcome to go to church with me if you like. Pray. The Holy Spirit is also called the Comforter. I leave you with this:
Philippians 4:6-8

6Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

7And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

That was a very nice answer to try and help console someone who was obviously reaching out for help. :flowers:

I've read this thread numerous times.. I don't know who BS Gal is, but what she asked and her statements all seemed sincere. I don't see reflected in any of her posts any kind of attack, unless 'Why?' is a new attack word.

2A Kudo's to you for not joining in the fray and answering her question!

I highly recommend that you read the book When Bad Things Happen to Good People by Harold S. Kushner. This book has truly helped me and I hope it will do the same for you.

Your sister's death happended over 36 years ago! Apparently, you need to put your big girl panties on and deal with it.

This was not nice.

Ignore it... the void left by the loss of a loved one is never filled.

Some of the most comforting words I've heard were at the funeral of a friend, who, for about a year prior to his death, "went crazy" (for lack of a better term), and eventually caused his own death. The pastor who performed his eulogy told us that the only answer he has is that maybe God took him because he knew that the path that laid ahead of him was far too great for him to bear. When cleaning out his house, his family found a bible, with choice verses highlighted, that led us to believe that maybe he was battling inwardly with his faith. We can only hope that he found God before he passed.

I think, if he had bible passages highlighted, he did find his faith. JMHO
