They stood their ground...wonder how those demands feel now.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Hostess Brands -- the maker of such iconic baked goods as Twinkies, Devil Dogs and Wonder Bread -- announced Friday that it is asking a federal bankruptcy court for permission to close its operations, blaming a strike by bakers protesting a new contract imposed on them.
The closing will result in Hostess' nearly 18,500 workers losing their jobs as the company shuts 33 bakeries and 565 distribution centers nationwide. The bakers' union represents around 5,000.

Looks like Michelle Obama's food policy is working. She has killed the Twinkies. I guess a loaf of White Wonder Bread will not grow the body in 12 ways now.

Look what socialist policies are doing, killing more jobs:

Wal-Mart workers plan Black Friday walkout
Walkout builds on October strike that started at Wal-Mart in LA

Wal-Mart workers plan Black Friday walkout | Money - Home

A group of Wal-Mart workers are planning to stage a walkout next week on Black Friday, arguably the biggest holiday shopping day for the world's largest retail store.

The walkout builds on an October strike that started at a Wal-Mart in Los Angeles and spread to stores in 12 other cities. More than 100 workers joined in the October actions.

Not a Walmart fan, but I can see Walmart saying screw it, lets just close these stores.

Hostess will move to sell its assets to the highest bidder

I hope the union members continue to stick together and pool their resources and buy the thing and then they can show those bastards how to run a bakery!

"Yay! It's ours! Built on our backs! Now, it belongs to us! First order of business...uh....looking at the p/l statement, err....uhhh....looks likeuhm....maybe....err...Folks, we needs to cut wages and benefits or this thing sinks."

Colorado and Washington will have record Hostess sales.

I don't understand this though. The union only reprsents about 5,000 of the 15,000 employees. Hostess has already filed bankruptcy twice, so who knows.

I see it coming in the next four years.....
All "junk food"; ie: Twinkies, Devil Dogs  and anything sweet will be gone.

THEN Mrs. O will work on eliminating Doritos and all those other chips that aren't baked.....baked potato chips :barf:

I have a friend that's worked there many, many years and he knew this was coming. He's been looking for a replacement job for the last few weeks trying to keep ahead of it. So sad that all of the workers are impacted by the selfishness of a few.

Yep. Apparently even the Teamster's Union, who is the largest source of Hostess' employees, said the baker's union is a bunch of idiots. Now all those Teamsters loose their jobs too. Teamsters said they should have allowed for a secret rank and file vote but I guess the union bosses don't care about rank and file. Should come as no surprise to anyone.

Thinking union bosses care about rank and file is like thinking Democratic leadership cares about the poor.

News Flash - It is Romney's Fault

Oh, give me a break, "it is the rich peoples fault". No it is the stupid peoples fault.

Union: 'Bain-style' killing of Twinkie - Kevin Cirilli - POLITICO.com

The Bain attack is back.

This time it’s being used against Hostess Brands, the Twinkies and Wonder Bread maker that announced Friday it was closing. AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka drew the comparison in a public statement Friday.

“What’s happening with Hostess Brands is a microcosm of what’s wrong with America, as Bain-style Wall Street vultures make themselves rich by making America poor,” Trumka said in a public statement. “Crony capitalism and consistently poor management drove Hostess into the ground, but its workers are paying the price.”
