Hey Lexi, I was "profiled" this morning.

When I see bikers in the media it is usually for a charity event ride. My image of bikers isn't the bad boy stereotype that is put on them.

thuggish looking black males
Key word.

My daughter's beau is a young black man - very clean cut, nice looking kid. We go places and nobody looks twice at him, unless it's some chickie checking him out :really:. But they definitely pay attention to the gang banger kid who slouches in with his surly attitude and his do-rag. And this is whether said gang banger is black, white, Hispanic or otherwise.

It's just what Pete said - people fear the unknown and those that aren't like them. There might be suburban middle-class whites that still fear a nicely dressed, well-presented black man, but they're going to fear the angry skinhead white kid a lot more. I had a little gal that worked with me years ago - white girl with goth black hair, black makeup around her eyes, grit girl wardrobe - and she used to complain all the time about people in stores giving her the hairy eyeball.

I find it extremely funny that people who go out of their way to look like zombies and vampires take offense when people look at them the same way they would look at a zombie or a vampire.

I've never seen bikers painted positivley in the media.

They're usually portrayed as violent, leather-wearing, boozers.

Whether that's a negative thing is left as an exercise for the reader
You must be filtering out all the charity rides and "rolling thunder".

No - the mainstream media doesn't interview ABATE members when they need a biker story. They go get some Hell's Angel scungy druggy guy with half his face gone to represent.

And even when they interview bikers for Rolling Thunder, they don't pick the nicely dressed good-looking guy - they pick the one that looks like he just got out of the penitentiary.

I was referring to movies, television shows and the like.

Usually on TV or movies, all bikers are portrayed like this guy:
