I can't imagine oysters in dressing. I mean, I like oysters and I love dressing...but...together?? I guess the oysters would add moisture but is the dressing itself...um, 'oyster-y' tasting?

When I first heard of it I thought the same thing. It really isn't. It is really good! I was very suprised after I made it the first time. The other ingredients in the dressing balance out the "oyster-y" taste.

I'll have to try it, thanks. It sounds pretty rich, probably perfect with turkey.

I have a dumb question about the fried pickles....I have never tried them and want to....Do you use dill or sweet pickles...Don't laugh, I told you I have never tried them...I like to cook too....I try to have dinner ready every day when wifey gets home....

I've only ever had them using dill but I guess sweet would work too. I don't see why it wouldn't anyway

Dill. At least that's what I used. This time though I'm going for chips instead of spears. Also, I'm thinking of going with a zesty dill or something along those linesw. Also, use a nice thick beer batter to dredge them in with pleanty of oil in the pan if you don't have a deep fryer.

OK. I had FRIED PICKLES tonight...I did the sandwich slices...They were good...I think the chips would be cool too....Wifey said they were really good but they could use some kind of dip...Maybe a white cheese sauce or something like that....Maybe even a sweet/sour type thing too...Anyone dip em?

I don't know about a cheese sauce, might be too much for me. I use a zesty or chipolte ranch :yum:

I have always used the same Oyster Stuffing recipe as above, but, I do not use any oyster fluid, and I saute the oysters before I add them to the stuffing.

Sounds like a good way to do it. I've never tried oyster stuffing, so maybe that's going to be my new thing this year!

Little ol' Me
Care to share a recipe for that? A cousin brought it to a family reunion a few years ago and the kids really liked it! :howdy:

Easy

Take 2 cups of salted pretzels (crush)
Layer in caserole dish
pour 1/2 cup melted butter and 2 tbls of sugar over pretzels
stir them togther
Bake for 20 mins at 350

Make Strawberry jello (big pack) add frozen or fresh sliced strawberrys place in fridge for about half the time to set (wanna be able to pour it)

Mix 1 square of cream cheese and 1 bowl of cool whip togther add 1 cup sugar, beat well till smooth.

once pretzels have cooled, layer jello, cream mixture, jello, cream mixture, jello (last layer should be jello)
place in fridge at least 2 hours before serving.

I know my directions don't sound the best but it so yummy

Thanks! Pretzels on bottom & then layers? Or is it pretzels, jello, cream, pretzels, jello, cream, etc.? Sorry to be so dense but don't remember enough about it to be able to tell & I want to get it right!

Thanks again for sharing the recipe here!
