We want quiet beaches, clear warm oceans, secluded lagoons, history, ruins, landmarks, scuba diving, sight-seeing, local shopping, local food flavors, lots of restaurants, majestic landscapes, helicopter rides, hiking, boating, fishing...

Prefer some place not overrun with long lines, no campy tourist shops where you can get the same thing on the other side of the world, or 2 stores down, no crowded beaches...

We kinda like all the amenities that the all-inclusives offer, but we're not sure how we can get an "authentic" experience with the local culture by going to an all-inclusive.

There are all kinds of islands around that area you can take ferries to. Only thing is i just remembered is in May i think its getting spring there, so I'm not sure if it rains a lot then.

Turkey is actually really nice too. But you have to know where to go. And it's super cheap once you are there. Just don't buy any drugs or piss on the statue of Ataturk and you're good to go. You might want to consider something more private, like aps said. We've been to many of the places you've listed for vacations--but for our honeymoon we just chose a quite cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains for a week. It was perfect.

I hear Turkey has most of what Greece has and lot less expensive. Most of western Turkey was once part of the Greek colonies so it is full of Greek ruins. Plus plenty of Roman and Byzantine ruins also. Warm sun and beautiful beaches also.

As for Cancun I thought I heard that they were hit hard by the hurricanes this year and will need some time to recover.
