How do we catch it?

I just get a small plastic trash can and my sandal or shoe and guide them into the can. They usually go right in it when their other escape routes are blocked. Then I just release them back in the yard...

First off, I am not Jesus Christ.
Second, no, I'm not scared of them but I've had a larger one latch onto my finger before and I don't need a replay of it, TYVM.

Local common lizard. If you live in SoMD, you have them around your house. Either black w/ light stripes on main body and a blue tail (juvi) or brown with stripes (adult). Biggest I have seen was 6"-8" head to tail. Here's a pic of a juvi.

I've seen them out in the yard. I just didn't know that it was a skink. Thanks for the info!
