How Do You Make Your Iced Tea?

The difference...30 pounds of fat off my ass. Fake Sugar FTW.

May be 30 pounds of fat off your ass, but it's how many pounds of harmful chemicals in your body? Trust me you are not doing yourself any favors by losing 30 pounds of fat by putting harmful chemicals in your body.

And while I agree that a diabetic should eliminate the majority of sugar from their diet, adding chemicals to it in place of the sugar is actually funny. Wow, I'm sure that's helping the diabetic person.

Good luck with that. :coffee:

Well since my husband stares at my ass and not the chemicals I injest ...
I will keep my ass worthy of his lustful gaze.

From the Mayo Clinic -
But according to the National Cancer Institute and other health agencies, there's no sound scientific evidence that any of the artificial sweeteners approved for use in the U.S. cause cancer or other serious health problems. And numerous research studies confirm that artificial sweeteners are generally safe in limited quantities, even for pregnant women. As a result of the newer studies, the warning label for saccharin was dropped.

Artificial sweeteners are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as food additives. They must be reviewed and approved by the FDA before being made available for sale. In some cases, the FDA declares a substance "generally recognized as safe" (GRAS). These GRAS substances, including highly refined stevia preparations, are deemed by qualified professionals based on scientific data as being safe for their intended use, or they have such a lengthy history of common use in food that they're considered generally safe and don't require FDA approval before sale.

The FDA has also established an acceptable daily intake (ADI) for each artificial sweetener. This is the maximum amount considered safe to consume each day over the course of your lifetime. ADIs are intended to be about 100 times less than the smallest amount that might cause health concerns.

All that's saying is that they can't prove that artificial sweeteners can be linked to cancer. DUH!!

Whooptie Doo!! You found an article on the internet.

I'm not claiming to be a health expert, I just have an ounce of common sense to know that an ounce or less of artificial sweetner is BAD for you.

There are tons of articles out there that have proven that you are better off using real sugar instead of a sugar substitute.

No, the article, by a very reputable medical establishment, said "there's no sound scientific evidence that any of the artificial sweeteners approved for use in the U.S. cause cancer or other serious health problems."

Can you give some examples of the "tons of articles" you speak of along with why they should be believed over what the Mayo Clinic and the National Cancer Institute say?

Oh and just so you are a little less confused, I don't use sugar substitutes, but I also don't believe that they are as evil as you contend when used with moderation as expected. Also don't worry, my common sense would never allow me to confuse you with someone that would be considered a health expert. :buddies:

No matter what any one thinks or says (including myself), your concern is appreciated.

I have survived cancer, more drugs injected into my veins by doctos than I care to count, five surgeries, child birth, and after all of that I will be damned if I am going to be scared of a little splenda. If the cancer can't kill me, I don't think my Splenda will either.

Would you mind psychically imparting some of that not-me-by-God willpower to my Dad please? Round 4 treatments/surgery (I think) coming up.

Luvin Life !!!
Well I guess I am the odd ball here as usual. We go through 1 gallon of tea per day when fiancé is home and 1 gallon every 2-3 days when he is gone. I simply use a clean one gallon pitcher and fill with hot tap water add 4 regular sized tea bags or two family size bags, pop the lid on and let sit for an hour or two. Then I squeeze out and remove the teabags and add 2 ladles of sugar approx. 1/2 cup, stir, replace lid and refrigerate.

I have had a iced tea maker, used the coffee pot, made sun tea, etc. Always tastes pretty much the same to me. I choose quick and easy on this one. Now I had a distant relative that I remember would put pineapple juice in their tea versus sugar. I tried to replicate that a few times and could never get it to taste like theirs.
