How long should you wait for a doctor?

I had a knee appointment today at 3 in those medical buildings across the street from the church on Hollywood Road. I got there at 2:30, no patients waiting. They took me back for xrays at 2:45 and then sat me in a room and closed the door. At 3:50 I got up and walked into the lobby to ask if the doctor even knew I was there. They said yes he was busy with other patients but would be with me when he could. I said okay but I'm leaving in fifteen minutes.

So another ten minutes goes by and he walked in. He introduced himself, didn't offer his hand, didn't smile, said sorry about the wait, I understand you said you were leaving and I said yes. He said is that because you're tired of waiting and I said I needed to get home to give my son his seizure medication. He said okay I understand you have knee pain and he said where's the pain and I said in my knees. I guess that sounds smartassy BUT I've been a patient there for two years, they took xrays that very day - he should have been able to see that my thigh bone resting on my leg bone without cartilage is probably painful.

He sighs, pulls up a chair and said look I'm trying to help you but your attitude....that's all I needed to hear and I said you know what? I don't like you already and I just find another bone doctor, you are not going to work for me.

And on the way out I stopped by reception I said take me off your patient list that man is an *******.

So anyone know any knee guys?

I know a few people that go up there. That's a long drive for me though - hoping to find someone closer. Thank you.

Haven’t gone to them for my knees, but advanced ortho in Leonardtown has been great for helping my back and my hands.

I loathe arrogant medical people who have no respect for their patients' time. Sitting there for an hour after my appt time waiting for Mr. ThinksHesGod to deign to see me would piss me off to no end.

This sort of thing is one of the reasons I despise doctors in general. And for him to say he doesn't like your attitude....after he left you cooling your heels for an hour....

Dr. Bauk in Ltown did my pinched nerve surgery a zillion years ago and I must have liked him because he's still alive and I'm not in jail.

Thank you! That's what I needed validation.

Well, this is where you screwed up. He's obviously asking where on the knees is the pain and you said "in my knees". He just wants confirmation and you wanted to get an attitude with him, now you're stuck with knee pain and an extra trip. If a plumber asks you where your bathroom is so he can fix a broken pipe, are you gonna say "in my house"?

X-rays are typically conducted by a different team than the bone doctor, and it's more than likely that while you were getting those X-rays patients came in for general consulting and you had to wait. Yes, it sucks, but it's common for doctors offices with one doctor to take a while to get through a backlog of patients.

Couldn't disagree with you more. And for the record, HIS problem besides being very late was that he had this peeved look on his face when he walked in, he didn't smile, he didn't shake my hand, and it was actually pretty damn obvious that he didn't want to be pulled from what he was doing to look at me. He didn't even sit down like he was going to look at my knees, he just towered over me and looked down. And from his attitude came my attitude.

They over book plain and simple. Don't over book, see your patients on time and have time to spend with them to hear all concerns and discuss treatment options. It's all about the dollar

Oh and the x-rays were done right in his office and were sitting right there for him to look at not three feet away.
