Carrying out the penalties for breaking the law is "Caesar's" (the government's) purview.
Okay, I'll go for that.

I was nonplussed at Raley's defense of rabid dogs because they once were newborn puppies. They certainly were BUT that's not what they are now. And putting them down in a lot better solution than kennelling them with other rabid dogs for the rest of their days. Plus it keeps them from being a danger to anyone else, including the people that have to take care of them.

To me it's the exact same thing with rabid humans.

Go ahead...point to some Scripture verses to tell me that killing a criminal is justified. What I know is that I am a devout Catholic, and one of the tenets of my faith is that the death penalty only adds to the culture of death in the world.

Boy, that's not the Roman Catholic doctrine I grew up in.

I am so glad to be an Agnostic and not have to get bound up in this all life is sacred crap. Thank God! :)

The World is just one big culture of death, from ants that kill each other in wars, to dolphins who kill each other out of dislike, to trees that kill floor plants by chocking off the sunlight. Natural selection is one thing, but so is the fact that everything on this planet must die so that others will live.

We do not need to see the good in each person, we only need to observe the evil that they do. Our civilization is based on the fact that we're all going to live by a set of established laws. And when someone decides they're going to live outside those laws to such an extent that they pose a threat to the life, safety, or property of another, then I could care less if the evil doer has a heart of gold. The only "good" that I want to see in them is a bullet.

Glad to know that things are looking up for you. :huggy:

Sorry... it's just the view you get when you spend most of your adult life overseas and seeing just how f'ed up the World is.
