Little ol' Me
Hi-
My name is Tillah. I was born on the streets of Afghanistan -- where they don't keep dogs as pets. I was found by a very nice World Bank employee who took me in and raised me. Unfortunately, I was not well socialized. I could not be walked because local Afghanies would throw sticks and rocks at me and they would spit on my owner. The local children threw things at me in my backyard. The male vet that spayed me chained me to a tree after my surgery and the men that cared for me in my owner's absense beat me. Needless to say, I'm pretty scared of men now. I'm learning that they can be very nice but I need to meet the slowly.
The first time I ever saw a dog on a leash was when I arrived in the United States last may. In fact, that was one of the first times I ever saw other dogs. I dont really understand how to interact with them. I think they may try to hurt me so sometimes I try to get the first. But, a trainer that evaluated me said she thought I would get over this and come to learn that other dogs, like cats, are not dangerous. I dont mind cats too much.
Because of my fears, the rescue that helped me escape death in Afghanistan has no place to put me. So, I'm sitting in a boarding facility. I hate it here. I can hear the other dogs and they make me very nervous. I really need a nice, dog-less person to foster or adopt me. I am housetrained and I now can walk on a leash. I just dont really want to go near other dogs yet. The resuce is trying to raise money to get me more training and also to set me up with a veterinary behavioralist.
I'm told that I have doggies post-traumatic stress disorder -- much like the soldiers that come back from Afghanistan. I need treatment. Even more, I really need your help.
Please, please, please, if you have any ideas about someone that might take me in and love me, please contact my friend Mirah at mirah.horowitz@gmail.com. She can tell you about fostering and adopting. She can also tell you where to send donations. Or you can visit my website at: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=8423089. They tell you how to donate there too.
Please send my message to anyone you can - tell ALL your friends! I need help desperately, and if I dont get it, I dont know what will happen to me. I can't live in a boarding facility forever....
