A bunch of things here ---
One is - ACOORDING TO THE MAIN MESSAGE the government is trying to get across - vaxxed means, you're safe. If you're vaxxed, you can travel, you can shop, you can go to work. They are all over the place after that - everyone by now knows that children not only don't get it, but in the major cities they are far more likely TO BE SHOT than die from COVID. This is absolutely true in Chicago, where COVID has taken the lives of less than a dozen children, all with co-morbidities, but over a hundred have been shot - and they're not calling for quarantine or curfew.
Two - there's enough evidence that transmission of the virus person to person does not significantly vary whether or not you're vaccinated.
Three - if YOU are afraid to go out and about - no government mandate or situation is going to cure that. GOVERRNMENT will never cure this virus - private industry, the medical researchers and so forth MAY do that. But if YOU worry that you can't go about your business and "I want to get out of the house already" well, that's a problem for rich people - the rest of us have been doing that for a year and a half.
Four - NOTHING is keeping you from going outside. The SCIENCE is clear enough that sunlight kills the virus, and you're not transmitting or catching it being outside, even away from the most infected. Go for a walk, walk the dog, heck play some golf or tennis.
Five - if you think the reason you can't go out is unvaxxed people, you're delusional. Right now they're the whipping boy of this administration - because it was only a year ago that BOTH THE PRESIDENT AND THE VP was saying publicly they did not trust any vaccine Trump pushed to completion. They said that - REPEATEDLY, especially the VP. They may have - as politicians do - nuanced their words to give them an out - but the message they WANTED THE VOTERS TO HEAR was - Trump is racing to get a cure before November, and you'd do well to steer clear of it.
Six - oh you still can't go out? Because Uncle Sam said so? Eff him. Seriously. Screw them. Until they pass LAWS for this, I am not going to adhere to any edict being passed down by a single executive. So Howard - GO OUT. Visit your neighbor. Last I checked, when you play chess you don't touch the other guy's pieces.
What we need to do - is something I have been saying for a year. Have they CURED AIDS? NOPE. But they have treatment now. You're HIV positive, you can be treated. A disease that was nearly 100% fatal is survivable. Just IMAGINE what kind of stupid mandates they might have passed back then. FIND A TREATMENT, and stop belittling efforts to do so. I have yet to see a treatment that the press supports. None. They are all in on vaccines, which evidently are never going to permanently solve the problem and they make FORTUNES for the manufacturers.
I'm concerned about the federal mandate, because I need my boss, and I fear greatly this will force him to retire way before early retirement. I will find out today. If he does, MY job just got 5x harder.
