Hughesville Lane Shifts At Night, In the Rain.

Very, very difficult to see and very dangerous. It is nearly impossible to stay in your own lane because of all the lane shifts whent he road is wet. I saw 3 people that were unable to stay in their own lane.

I can't wait for that construction to be completed, but I honestly think something should be done to make it easier to see the lanes when the road is wet.

495, on either side of the Woodrow Wilson bridge is the same way. Trucks are always swerving all over the lanes. I can't wait until they get that mess sorted out.

I've never had any problems there. But then I don't drive like an idiot either.

Yeah... there were some idiots in the mix too. Real nice to ride someone's bumber when they are doing their best to see the paint.

God forbid you slow down when you can't see where you're going

Tailgating is almost a hobby these days!

I slow way down on that section of road because of the idiots that cross the center line. If the guy behind me wants to tailgate, well, it's HIS insurance premium if something goes wrong.

It's unbelievable how fast people fly thru there! Even with radar set there quite often one would think the idiots would slow down since a doubled fine with it being a construction zone!

Problem isn't idiot drivers so much it's a) crappy job of obliterating the old lines and b) new lines have faded to almost nonexistence. I drive slow and still have trouble on the wet roads at night. I'm not sure what the southbound side is like, but if there are cars coming at you while your traveling the northbound side, their headlights glaring off the wet road cause the lines to completely disappear. The old lines show up better than the new ones in some spots, which can really throw someone off. There is one section where you can clearly see the white dashed line from the old road running down the center of the new lane. They realy should have put reflectors back into the road when they shifted it.

I'm glad everyone feels the same way. I have trouble there whenever it rains... Christmas night was a problem for me too. It never fails, I stay in the right hand lane, still going a bit above the speed limit, and the drivers behind me blind me with their headlights because they are tailgating. I'm suprised that there hasn't been more traffic incidents since the lane shifts. Hopefully it will be all worth it when construction is completed.

I was up that way this weekend and I was stuck in traffic, I mean we all turned off our cars, because there was a really bad accident in this area. The Maryland State Police medivaced someone from the scene. Did anyone hear about this?

The accident was Saturday afternoon at about 3pm northbound at Deborah Dr. just inside Charles County. Man and women on a motorcylce, swerved to miss a group of deer (maybe as many as 6) running across the road. I dont know if they hit any of the deer, but they were both flown out, non life-threating injuries, women had a fractured leg, not sure of the mans injuries.

Face it. Hughesville is a blight on the map of Southern Maryland. Mostly ramshackled houses and rednecks who hate baseball. Thank God a bypass will alleviate the time you have to spend driving by it.

As much as I love baseball and I have no animosity against the citizens of Hughesville, proposing to put a baseball stadium in Hughesville had to be one of the dumbest ideas imaginable.

Fenway Park.... Wrigley Field.... Yankee Stadium... Oriole Park at Camden Yards.... Hughesville Amish Furniture Barn Park???
