Face it. Hughesville is a blight on the map of Southern Maryland. Mostly ramshackled houses and rednecks who hate baseball. Thank God a bypass will alleviate the time you have to spend driving by it.

Obviously, you haven't seen Hughesville lately. Many new homes going for $600,000 and up!

i had the same problem Christmas night...we were probably there at the same time...i was behind some people who did the same thing

Very, very difficult to see and very dangerous. It is nearly impossible to stay in your own lane because of all the lane shifts whent he road is wet. I saw 3 people that were unable to stay in their own lane.

I can't wait for that construction to be completed, but I honestly think something should be done to make it easier to see the lanes when the road is wet.
I went through this very same section of road tonight. It was dark and raining. I was driving 20 mph over the speed limit until I had to slow down to 15 over due to the poke-a-longs in front of me. I had no problem at all maintaining my lane.

I wish I was as cool as you.

It took me 20 minutes to get through the intersection this morning. No accident. Everybody must have read this tread and been scared. :ohwell:

if you will
Yeah, I know I'm a blind, horrible driver, but I agree that when it is dark and raining and there are oncoming vehicles, it is quite challenging to figure out what lane you are in. And I drive through there in the dark every day to/from work. What makes it worse is how close you are to oncoming traffic.

Beware of standing water in the Northbound right lane even during a light rain.

Good to know that I'm not the only one who struggles to find any type of lane when it is dark around there. It is very dangerous, especially with there being no median to protect you from traffic flowing in the other direction. Can't wait until it's done!

Except with the bypass, we now drive right thru the backyard of the trashiest of trashy redneck houses. This place is just BEGGING for somebody to REALLY drive beyond their limits, sail thru the barriers, across the yard and into the house (while it's empty) and burst into flames in such a way as to spread the flames to every structure on the property and burn them to the ground.
