Watch out, next he'll be blowing spit-balls at you and calling you more names .... :jerry:

It's OK. He's like a 3rd grader who doesn't know how to act in the face of a crush. I'm just taking it as a sign of his undying affection for me. :lmao:

Get your storm supplies on the ready - if it keeps coming and doesn't turn soon enough we could ALL be offline for days ..... exactly what is there that is going to deflect this strong storm from the coastline? I mean the eye of the storm could very easily make landfall and change course completely.

I mean a perfect example is Isabel 2003:

And this right here is why I make fun of you guys. You and Raven sould meet. :killingme

That track is nothing close to Earl's. :killingme
Go look at Turbo's posts about the trough in the other thread and you will understand why it's can't make a sudden turn.

It can still vary a bit e/w at this point, and in fact has pretty much hugged the west edge of the predicted cone (initiatially it was predicted as some 500 miles off coast, no we are looking at 125 to center.) but no, it isn't going to bull it's way west through the trough. Troughs are hurricane magnets... earl will follow it once in it. :yay:

Even a STRONG trough isn't a guarantee of deflecting a CAT 5 Hurricane.

Accccctually. Yes, is is a guarantee. As powerful as a cat 5 may seem, it is still obedient to the whims of our atmosphere. It responds and moves within limits just as any other storm, and those limits are dictated by the atmospheric conditions around it. COULD it turn and make landfall? Sure, the rtough is big enough to allow that. WILL it? Well, you have to give it a reason to... an atmospheric reason, or one that is very strong in the water (like a heat knot, which is what they think caused Charley to skew off to the S, but you won't find these in the waters here).

The reason for the debate where and what it was going to do, was that the speed of the system pushing the trough, and the jetsream which shapes it, was all in flux. Now that everything has come together the info is a lot firmer. :yay:
