Husky on the loose

It's not HaHa time....
That is a bs excuse. I owned a Husky that was a known escape artist when I was renting - at the time I owned 2 other dogs as well. I built a fenced in area just for the Husky (at the rental property). It was the only thing that worked and it may be your only option with that dog. I took the fence with me when I left.

We briefly talked about doing something along those lines, but our backyard isnt really big enough to do something of decent size. So that leaves the field as the only option. I am not saying I am not going to do that, just trying to get a few options. If you dont mind me asking, what were the dimensions? Did you have a dog house in it or was it just a run type of thing?

It really wasn't that huge. Just enough for him to get rid of some anxiety/get some exercise. All of my dogs are inside dogs - there wasn't a dog house. He'd get let out a few times a day to do his bizz and chill. We did a wooden picket fence actually. When we moved we just cut down very low on the posts and covered them up with dirt. The posts weren't usable anymore but I still have the pickets.

That seems about what she needs, but I was thinking along the lines of chain link that way she can still see out, she likes to sit and watch the birds (odd dog) and then the kids will get out there and play with her when the weather cooperates. But I would more than likely enclose the top too just in case she figures out how to climb. She would stay outside if we would let her but she enjoys being inside too especially by the fire... I guess I have some research to do tonight while hubby is out looking for her.

You may be able to pick up some fencing materials on freecycle. It has been a year and a half or so since I was active on there but I do remember there being stuff like that back then.

I had a lab that was an escape artist... took the fence with a huge hunk of concrete along with it as he darted down the street. I ended up coming to the realization that he would be better suited for a farm owner and after Animal Control responded for the 3rd time in less than a month - they assisted me. He's most likely dead now or really old, but he ended up spending his life on a farm. It seemed no matter WHAT I did - he'd escape and we didn't live on a very good road for dog walking. I also didn't have a good piece of property for a kennel at the time either (huge hill) and he knew how to get out of our surrounding fence - every time.

QB - hope you find your dog.

She has been found and returned to us. She ran one street over and started playing with their husky. So she was safe and sound. They told us she walked right in their house when they called their dog in for the night. And now she has a play date if she ever wants one! I am going to petco today to buy a harness and I have already started looking for fencing options for a chain link run area for her.

Glad to hear she is home safe.
