My wedding AND reception for 25 people cost us $300. But we are just as married as those folks who spend thousands and thousands, and we are probably happier than those folks, too. :roflmao:

My high school BF was still paying off her wedding when they got divorced. :jet:

I am planning a Fall 2012 wedding! I know to some it may seem a little soon to be planning but, I am one who has to have things set in stone long in advance! I am looking to have a small wedding with 80 or less people. I need to find a venue and church; it would be nice to have wedding/reception at same location. I need to find a cake lady/man too! It would be great if anyone has any suggestions or ideas!!!

There is that, but I was thinking people spend gobs of money needlessly, going into debt and stressing out over how much everything costs. My entire wedding, including photography, video, web cast, cake, champagne, flowers, dress, trip to vegas, et.al was under $2K and these folks spent $3,500 on photography alone. :faint:

I'm glad I didn't start out my marriage in debt up to my eyeballs for a one day event.

What year was it when you got married? We aren't in debt because of our wedding either and I'm thankful that we were fortunate to have such a wedding. Annnnnnd the $3,500 was for pictures and a video thank you very much!

Sure, we probably spent more than we should have and that money could've bought us lots of other stuff.....but I wouldn't change it, not one bit. I'm very happy with our one day event.

:roflmao: Are you implying that it was too long ago and that is why it cost less? A little over a year ago...and I got round trip airline tickets, a hotel room for a week, photos - including print, on a cd, 8x10s, and even a blown up wedding portrait, video, live web cast with a dvd of that, cake, flowers, decorations, preacher, champagne, a butler guy, a coordinator and some other stuff that I can't even remember for less than what you paid for just photos and a video. Heck, you can factor in my dress, my husband's tux (that was purchased - not rented) and it still cost less.

I priced a small, local wedding. I couldn't believe the cost. It was insane to me and still is, to pay that much. I could have bailed out a third world nation. IMHO, have fun, skip the stress, get your princess wedding if that's what you want, but check out alternatives to have something cost effective that won't put you in debt or stretch your finances too thin. A wedding is for one day, the marriage is for a lifetime - you don't want to be paying for that one day throughout the course of your marriage.

Hehe yeahhh I was clearly implying I thought it was forever ago :jet: That's amazing though, having EVERYTHING included for less than 2K...good deal :yay: We went to Vegas for my bachelorette weekend (it was just a few of us) and I think that was about $600/person for just the flight and room. Where was your wedding/hotel and all? We stayed at Excalibur, nothing fancy...just a room.

We were financially able to have the wedding we did and are happy with how things turned out. I mean...we'll NEVER do anything like that again  but it was awesome. Now for our happily ever after

Our wedding 13 years ago was 15K my parents paid for most of it, I loved it was such a great day...however if my parents said ok we'll either throw you a wedding for 15k or we'll give you 10k cash my ass is taking the cash
