Most people I know prefer buttercream rather than cream cheese
I think she is talking about the whipped icing. OMG that #### is HORRID!!! Its like slathering a cake w/ cool whip
OMG people she doesn't want to get married in Vegas! 
McKay's cakes have whipped icing and it's freakin incredible
I mean...it's not 'wedding buttercream icing' but still, it's pretty darn tasty

It is Safeway cake all the way!
I only got cake from McKay's once but the icing was good. Safeway's cake's pretty good too, chocolate cake mmmmm and I'm not much into cake. If we "buy" a cake, for a birthday or something, I like going to Walls Bakery

I know it is a bit far from you but the bakery in La Plata does pretty good ones... but they are pretty pricey
Also heard on the radio today that they having a wedding event there this Sunday from 12-4pm that's free. Lot's of vendors of various types catering, cakes, photography etc from what the ad said. Maybe the OP should check that out.

Charles Street Bakery? They are good, definitely pricey though
You really should try calling Marie, the cake was awesome and she'll do a tasting (free) for you if you'd like (which why wouldn't you want a free cake tasting??

There is that, but I was thinking people spend gobs of money needlessly, going into debt and stressing out over how much everything costs. My entire wedding, including photography, video, web cast, cake, champagne, flowers, dress, trip to vegas, et.al was under $2K and these folks spent $3,500 on photography alone.
I'm glad I didn't start out my marriage in debt up to my eyeballs for a one day event.

But we are just as married as those folks who spend thousands and thousands, and we are probably happier than those folks, too.

I have always had a theory that the wedding planning is testing the compatibility of the would-be spouse.
If a guy can sit through 12-18 agonizing months of picking out invitations, picking out dresses, stress, mom-zilla, deciding on the kinds of flowers, colors of balloons and all that stuff, without seriously contemplating sticking a gun into his own mouth, the betrothed couple are meant to be.
