Before you took your class had you ever rode a motorcycle or dirt bike?
I've never rode either and am just wondering how hard or easy it will be to get the hang of it?
If you can ride a bicycle, the physics are the same. Just a few more controls (hand and foot) to get used to. Also helps if you can drive with a manual transmission.

I tend to wander when I ride by myself, and use the whole lane.. If I'm in traffic on 235, I stick to the far left lane, and keep to the left of it.. You only have to worry about cars on ONE side changing lanes on you, and nobody turning right off of the side roads. I also try to keep my sides clear as much as I can. NEVER ride next to a car (Especially an SUV) if you can help it, always be a little ahead, or a little behind.. After getting comfortabe on a ride, ai find myself ignoring my own rules, so you ahve to stay focused, and remond yourself youa reon a bike, and ride accordingly.

I'm off my bike for a day or two, checked my rear tire last night and it's down to the cords, so have to wait for my new tire to come. Metzler M-1 lasted 6000 miles (ALMOST six months) so I switched to a little harder tire that's supposed to get better mileage Metzler Z6.. Anyone have a tire changer!??

I was puttering around on my motorcycle a little bit before the class, so I had very, very, very limited experience. Only 4 of us in the class of 12 had ever been on a bike and, of the 12, only 7 passed, so you would have to make your conclusions based on that, I would think. I saw a few people take right to it and some that may never get it.

Fat Hen
Hi. I took the class at PGCC, Fri., Sat. Sun. in early March. We had two people not show. Had to be there by 6:00pm on Friday or backup got your spot. Plus they said you didn't have to pay right then. You could pay on Saturday. For out-of-PG-county person (like me) it came to $281 total.

The class is in the building next to the track, by the temporaries. Get there by 5:30pm and ask folks in the parking lot. They are probably there for the same thing, the class.

MSF classes are the best way to go in my opinion. Instructors made me feel safer, for my first time on a bike.

Hope this helps some.

Am I understanding this right the class is only two days long ??
Two evenings (mine was from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m.) in the classroom, then a written test. Then Saturday and Sunday, each day, for 5 hours on the pavement on a motorcycle. They provide the bikes. Bring a lot of water.

I kind of remember the general area. I was full of excitement and awe at the time....... :lmao: I'm going to try to ride the hubby's V-Star (his is an 1100), possibly this evening, before making arrangements with her to come take a lookie. It's a beautiful bike.

Bob, remember you still need to get it balanced, so remove the wheel and take it and the new tire to your favorite bike shop, bring in a pizza with you if you want it done on the spot. :yay:

Well, since BG hasn't bought me the tire changer yet, I have to head to a local merchant anyways. Last time it cost me $43, anyone know of any place cheaper to get a tire mounted and balanced?

HEHEHEHE...yeah, I want to get one of those

Just a couple more weeks before I take the class, but I'm going to try to slide in early starting next week. If anybody else is signed up, I'll be in section 48561 if I don't get in early.

Unfortunately, no. I've been working on a presentation  I almost got out on Sunday, but the bike's idling rough. I need to clean and sync the carbs. If I can get the presentation and the final done before the weekend, I'll try to do that this weekend.

BTW, ordered a horn

Stop saying that Aps. It's not the same. And you BEST have driven a manual before or you will never get the shifting thing and the clutch thing. I believe everyone that didn't pass the class with me hadn't driven a clutch. It should be a rule that you can't take that class without having ridden a bicycle AND driven a clutch. Saw it my own self.

I just finished my ONE class tonight, did my final presentation last week..now have to spit out some risk slides..

Then catch up on all the homework.. it's been one hell of a semester..

I've got twin Fiamm's... I don't know if the Nautilus would be any louder.
