That's one good thing about the Charles County landfill on Billingsley Road is that if it is yard or tree debris you don't pay to dump it, you go to the back of the dump to the recycle yard where it is ground up in big drum grinders, spread in rows and turned every so often, and then given away as free garden or yard mulch. Doesn't Calvert County have a deal like that?

If they do, I haven't been able to find out about it.

But if a commercial mulch-making company wants it they can have it.

Just a bit over half an acre, with about 80% tree coverage. 97 feet wide.
That's PLENTY big to burn it off. Just get a burn permit, do it on a light/no wind day and have your hose standing by. Maybe even see if you can get your neighbor's hose too, just in case. Coordinate with the neighbors, want to make sure you are not burning it off on a day where they are having a party or some such thing.

Except that there's noplace on the whole property that's got more than about two or three square yards without tree coverage, and I really don't want to be burning underneath trees.

Rent a chipper/shredder and wa-la you have mulch (without those pesky formosan termites).

I'm sure I'll end up doing that. In fact, there's a tree service only a block away from my house and they've probably got one. I just wanted to make sure I've exhausted all giveaway possibilities before I start forking over a buncha money.
