I find the Noah's Ark story creepy

Alright, I don't really know how this got started, nor why I stumbled upon it, but I cannot walk away having read what I have. I made the account I am using for the sole purpose of this post and I will likely not return.

First things first: The Validity of the Bible.

The Bible (or at least the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts) was written over more than 1500 years, on three continents, in different environments, by approximately 40 human authors, and during every mood we know of. The Bible contains subject matter that is and was very controversial, yet it is written with harmony and continuity from cover to cover. Those who say "the Bible contradicts itself" do not know what they are talking about, and say so because they were told so themselves, or stumbled across two verses that seemed to say different things about the same subject. The latter is usually the case when people back up their claims with scripture, but each time a verse is either misunderstood or taken out of context. On all matters the Bible covers, it agrees in every book. Old Testament law does not rule over the New Testament Christian, but the Old Testament is still included in the Bible because it provides many examples that show the character of God and the sinful nature of Man. The Bible is accurate in all areas it discusses:

-There is no proven fact of science that contradicts a verse of scripture.
-In cases where a theory contradicts scripture, that theory is often proven false, and scripture true.
-Many years ago doctors used to "bleed" sick patients, in an attempt to cause them to recover, but more often than not, caused the patient's condition to worsen, often resulting in the patient's death. Leviticus 17:11 says that "the life of the flesh is in the blood." Excessive loss of blood causes the loss of life.
-Ancient theories of the world's origin had it resting on the shoulders of Atlas, or on the back of a giant turtle, or whatever. Job 26:7 says that the earth does not hang (or sit) on anything.
-Scientists used to think that the world was flat. Isaiah 40:22 describes the world this way, "the circle of the earth"

-There is no proven archaeological find that contradicts a verse of scripture.
-At least 5,000 places mentioned in the Bible havce been definitely located by archaeologists.
-Archaeological evidence has proven the Bible's accountsof various kings or rulers.
-No legitimate archaeological discovery has ever contradicted the Bible.
-Proper evaluation of Biblical statements have led to amazing archaeological discoveries.

-The Bible contains many prophetic predictions, and though not all have yet come true, many have already been fulfilled.
-Biblical prophecies are not vague, such as the 'prophecies' of Nostradamus or so-called 'psychics.' Biblical prophecies are specific, such as the miraculous birth of a child to a couple in their 90s (Genesis 15:1-6; 17:1-5; 18:1-19) or that one of Jesus' disciples (Peter) would deny him three times the night before he was crucified (Matthew 26:31-34).
-The entire history of the Jewish people is evidence of the truth of the Bible. The Jews' continued existance as a seperate people proves that the prophecies given to and about them were true. Throughout their history they have come under oppression and hatred--we even have a word for it: anti-semitism. The Jews were slaves in Egypt, Babylon and Assyria, persecuted by numerous groups. Hitler was the leader of one such group of anti-semitists.
-Every detail of Jesus' life was recorded in the Old Testament (at LEAST 400 years before his birth). Many details about Jesus' life are recorded in external historical documents.

-The Bible has survived intact for its entire existance, nearly 3500 years (from first jot to last tittle), still as accurate as it was when it was originally written.
-After the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls (copies of the original manuscripts of what we now call the Bible) more than 1000 years after they were hidden, they were compared to copies of that day, and over 1000 years, not one iota of noticeable difference was found.
-Jewish laws governing the transcription of the Bible allow for 3 and only 3 errors in the ENTIRE thing. Should the transcriber make more than 3 errors, he must destroy it.
-The Bible has been persecuted for most of its existance as a whole document, yet continues to be the most read book on the earth, existing in more than 1100 languages, many of which were put to written form so that the Bible could be translated into those languages.

I'm sure there is more I could say about this, but I need to go soon, so I will say one or two things about evolution before going.

Show me something evolving. You can't. Don't try to cite the caterpillar/butterfly thing or anything else like that. That is metamorphosis, not evolution, and is a naturally occuring process. Do not try to cite "Darwin's Finches," because that is an example of variation, not evolution. Show me one thing giving birth to something else. Show me a cow giving birth to a llama. Show me a chicken egg hatching into a crocodile. You can't, because it does not happen. It can not happen. It never happened, nor will it ever happen. Genesis 1:24 says that God created everything "after his kind," and everything continues to reproduce "after his kind." There is no "after another's kind" anywhere.

I think that's about it for now. I could argue about several other topics, but I don't have the time now.

Just a few closing thoughts:
The Bible is not simply true because it says it is. The Bible, and that which is contained in it, is suppored by over 1,000 external documents. Is that a lot? Nobody would argue the authenticity of Aristotle's writings, and those are suppored by a whopping 7(or so) external documents.

The Bible is coherent because its Author is coherent. There are many writers of the Bible, but one Author, who guided each writer's hand.

Thank you for reading all the way through this, and if after what I have said, you still do not think the Bible is accurate, then just wait until the end of your life. You'll see then.

"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else."

AllYourBase, Well said. I just got through reading all the posts in this thread and was about to chime in with something similar. Thank you for saving me the time.

For those that refuse to believe or even consider the possibility of the Bible as Truth, as Vrai said, there is no discussion possible. I will not argue with you. I am willing to discuss with those that are seeking.

For those that profess to be Christians but do not believe that Bible is true, I repeat a question from another thread. If one part of the Bible is not true, then why is any part of the Bible true? If the account of creation, Noah's flood, or Jonah are not true, then why is the account of Christ's crucifixion and resurrection true? If the account of Christ's crucifixion and resurrection is not true, then how are you saved?

Plus I'm sure the people back then were no where as near as bad as the people out today.
I often wonder when I read these discussion whether anyone reads the Bible when they are trying to discuss scripture. Here is the scripture that describes the flood and how God felt about His creation. As far as the animals and their destruction, He provided for their continuation as He did for man. The universe was created at God's pleasure and man was created to fellowship with God. When man rejects God, the fellowship is broken.

Genesis 6:5-21
5 The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. 6 The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. 7 So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth-men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air-for I am grieved that I have made them." 8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD .

9 This is the account of Noah.

Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. 10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.
11 Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. 14 So make yourself an ark of cypress [3] wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. 15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. [4] 16 Make a roof for it and finish [5] the ark to within 18 inches [6] of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. 17 I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark-you and your sons and your wife and your sons' wives with you. 19 You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. 20 Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. 21 You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them."

The last days are prophesied to be like the days of Noah. darkriver4362 observance that man today is becoming very much like those of Noah's time is true. That is why many Christians believe that time is short; no man knows the hour or day, but with every day, the second coming of Christ does get nearer whether it is in my lifetime or a thousand years from now.

Matthew 24:37-44
37As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
42"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
